As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Infrastructure Platforms Digital Workflows, you deliver end-to-end ServiceNow capabilities that support critical client services. You partner with product and engineering stakeholders to design, build, test, and operate secure, resilient solutions, while mentoring peers and improving team delivery practices.
Job responsibilities
- Design scalable ServiceNow solutions aligned to firmwide frameworks, engineering standards, and platform best practices.
- Develop high-quality, maintainable solutions using ServiceNow development patterns (JavaScript; Angular/AngularJS where applicable).
- Build modular, reusable components/configurations with a focus on upgrade-safe patterns and maintainability.
- Create and maintain automated tests and perform manual validation to support reliable releases.
- Deliver iterative enhancements using agile methods, balancing speed with operational excellence.
- Partner with product and business analysis to refine requirements, define scope, and contribute to estimates and delivery plans.
- Integrate ServiceNow with upstream/downstream systems using APIs, events, and scalable data patterns.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable fixes.
- Contribute to operational readiness (runbooks, monitoring considerations, release checklists) to improve service reliability.
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery (e.g., refactoring, test creation, documentation) while validating outputs via review, testing, and secure coding standards.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and practical feedback; strengthen team agile practices and engineering workflows.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 3+ years of applied experience
- Hands-on experience implementing solutions on the ServiceNow platform.
- Strong JavaScript proficiency.
- Practical experience with Angular/AngularJS patterns relevant to ServiceNow UI development.
- Ability to design and build self-contained, reusable, and testable modules/components.
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow development constructs and lifecycle (e.g., scripting, configuration vs customization decisions, upgrade considerations).
- Experience across the SDLC (plan, build, test, release, operate) in an agile environment.
- Solid understanding of application, data, and infrastructure architecture and cross-system design patterns.
- Experience building and/or supporting integrations using APIs (e.g., REST/SOAP) and related authentication/error-handling patterns.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools within the work environment, with demonstrated ability to validate outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use (data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, resiliency/security expectations) and strong communication/teamwork skills.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- ServiceNow certifications: CSA, CAD, CIS–ITSM (and/or additional certs such as ITOM, CMDB, SecOps, Performance Analytics).
- Experience building and operating integrations at scale (webhooks, event-driven patterns).
- Familiarity with CI/CD and release management for platform-based delivery.
- Experience with automated testing strategies and test tooling in enterprise environments.
- Experience with observability, performance tuning, and production readiness practices.
- Exposure to cloud platforms and modern infrastructure practices (AWS/Azure concepts, SRE principles).
- Experience delivering in large, regulated, or security-sensitive environments with strong controls/change rigor.
