Software Engineer, Ground Systems

The Company

AnySignal is developing the next generation of RF products and services for some of the most demanding space and defense missions. We’re building a flexible, high-performance platform that’s easy to deploy, monitor, and scale, enabling customers to bring advanced radio technologies to life faster than ever before.

The Role

We’re hiring a Software Engineer to develop the software that connects, operates, and scales our ground network.

This role sits at the intersection of software, networking, and cloud infrastructure. You will build distributed services that connect ground stations, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing systems, while helping ensure the network remains reliable, observable, and scalable as it grows.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and operate software that supports AnySignal’s ground network across cloud and edge environments

  • Build backend services and APIs used to operate and manage the software and hardware that delivers data from ground stations to customers

  • Deploy and operate containerized services using Kubernetes

  • Build software that analyzes and optimizes links between spacecraft and the ground

  • Write software that handles configuration and data handling for a variety of ground radios

  • Build and maintain logging, monitoring, and observability infrastructure across the fleet

  • Troubleshoot software, networking, and infrastructure issues across cloud and deployed hardware environments

  • Contribute to system architecture as the ground network scales across additional stations and infrastructure

  • Work cross-functionally with ground hardware, RF, space software, and other engineering teams

What We're Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Strong software engineering experience in Python, Go, or a similar programming language

  • Strong experience developing and operating software on Linux

  • Experience building backend services, APIs, or distributed systems

  • Experience developing and operating software in AWS or similar cloud environments

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols, including TCP/IP

  • Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and distributed software systems

  • Experience with logging, monitoring, observability, and production software reliability

  • Experience with automated testing and software validation

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-moving engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience deploying and operating containerized applications using Kubernetes

  • Experience with satellite ground systems, satellite communications, or telecommunications infrastructure

  • Experience developing software deployed across both cloud and edge environments

  • Experience with scheduling, orchestration, or resource-management systems

  • Experience developing software that interfaces with or operates physical infrastructure

  • Understanding of electrical, RF, networking, or communications systems

  • Experience working in an early-stage or high-growth engineering environment

Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this role is $130,000-$200,000 per year, plus equity. This range reflects our good-faith estimate for this position at the time of posting. The final base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, skills, and market considerations.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
