HONK is looking for a dynamic fully remote Software Engineer to join our innovative team and contribute across a variety of projects. This role involves working closely with our full-stack engineers and UI/UX experts to develop APIs, enhance our back-end RoR systems, and improve our ML-based dispatch platforms. In our fast-paced, data-driven environment, you will play a key role in developing new products and pushing new code every day. Responsibilities
- Work with a team of full-stack engineers to build and enhance products across the stack.
- Develop back-end Ruby on Rails dispatch applications and RESTful APIs.
- Collaborate with the UI/UX team to create new user experiences and extend web applications.
- Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our real-time, location-based systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across our platforms quickly and efficiently.
- Stay current with new technologies and be eager to learn and apply new skills.
- Contribute to our agile development process, iterating quickly and pushing code frequently.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, HTML, Javascript, and RESTful API development.
- Experience with real-time systems, location-based services, and/or telephony apps (e.g., Twilio) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (Redis).
- Familiarity with system scalability, performance management, and agile methodologies.
- Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD tools, and project management software (Jira, Bitbucket).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
