About the Role
We are seeking a versatile and strategic Social Media Generalist to lead the social presence of our client, a global brand in the creator economy focused on gamers, content creators, influencers and collectors. The ideal candidate will also manage the Pinterest presence for another client, a craft whiskey and bourbon distiller

This role requires a hybrid skill set: you must be able to develop high-level strategy and content calendars while also executing edits, managing community engagement, and overseeing the work of junior interns. You will report directly to the founder and work closely with high school interns in Texas and New York who handle raw content creation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
  • Develop a comprehensive social media strategy for Gimme Swag across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter/X, Tumblr, Discord, Facebook and Pinerest.
  • Create and maintain a rolling content calendar (target: 2–3 posts per week per platform).
  • Establish baseline KPIs and reporting structures to track growth and engagement.
  • Manage the Pinterest strategy for New Dawn.
Research & Trend Analysis
  • Conduct proactive social media research to identify emerging trends, viral moments, and competitor activity.
  • Provide actionable strategic insights beyond basic summaries; analyze why certain content performs well and how we can leverage these trends for our brands.
Content Management & Editing
  • Curate and edit raw assets provided by the team or interns into platform-specific formats (Reels, TikToks, Shorts).
  • Proficiently use editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere/Rush, or AI-assisted editing tools.
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand voice: playful, youthful, and authentic for Gimme Swag; sophisticated and compliant for New Dawn.
  • Manage the Pinterest execution for New Dawn.
Community & Platform Management
  • Manage daily posting schedules across all priority platforms.
  • Engage with the community, respond to comments/DMs, and foster relationships within the gaming/collector niche.
  • Monitor analytics weekly to identify trending topics and adjust strategy accordingly.
Work with Interns
  • Guide and provide feedback to two high-school-aged interns (one in TX, one in NY) regarding content ideas and raw asset capture.
  • Maintain flexible, informal communication channels to ensure steady workflow.

Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years in social media management, preferably with brands in the creator economy, gaming, or lifestyle sectors.
  • Platform Expertise: Deep understanding of algorithms and best practices for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Discord. Experience with Pinterest is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in video/photo editing (CapCut, Adobe Suite, Canva, or similar).
    • Comfortable using AI tools for content ideation or workflow efficiency.
    • Ability to pull and interpret social media analytics data.
    • Strong research skills with the ability to synthesize social listening data into strategic recommendations.
Soft Skills
  • Self-starter who can operate independently with weekly check-ins.
  • Strong written English skills (native or near-native fluency required).
  • Adaptable tone: Can switch between Gen-Z/Gamer vernacular and professional/lifestyle tone.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
