About this Role

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Social Graphic/Motion Designer to join our growing Brand and Marketing team on a part-time contractor basis.

This role is responsible for designing best-in-class social creative — from static graphics and carousels to motion assets and campaign support — across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn. You will build and maintain scalable templates and design systems, elevate short-form video with motion graphics, and help evolve Nex's social visual identity.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong visual instincts and platform-native design sense who wants to help build a mission-driven brand at the intersection of movement, family, and technology.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design and produce best-in-class social creative across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn, including carousels, static graphics, Stories, motion assets and campaign support.
  • Create motion graphics, animations and graphic treatments that elevate short-form video content and improve overall creative quality.
  • Support game launches, IP partnerships, seasonal campaigns and always-on content with polished, social-first design assets.
  • Develop and maintain editable templates and scalable creative systems that enable faster, more efficient content production.
  • Partner closely with the internal creative and social team to evolve and uphold Nex's social visual identity, templates and creative toolkit.
  • Optimize creative specifically for social platforms, ensuring assets are designed for engagement, readability and mobile-first consumption.
  • Adapt campaign creative into platform-specific social assets while maintaining consistency across channels.
  • Collaborate with the Social Lead, content creator and agency partners to bring creative concepts to life from storyboard through final execution.
  • Stay current on evolving social design trends, motion styles and platform creative best practices to continuously elevate the brand's visual presence.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing quick-turn reactive requests alongside larger campaign deliverables.
Required Qualifications
  • 2–4+ years of experience in social graphic design and motion design, ideally for a consumer, gaming, or entertainment brand.
  • Strong portfolio of social-first creative (carousels, Stories, static graphics, motion assets) across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) or equivalent design and motion tools.
  • Experience building and maintaining editable templates and scalable creative systems.
  • Strong understanding of mobile-first, platform-specific design best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in gaming, family, or consumer tech brands.
  • Experience supporting game launches, IP partnerships, or seasonal campaigns.
  • Familiarity with short-form video editing or motion graphics for social.
  • Experience collaborating with agency partners and cross-functional creative teams.
What Sets You Apart
  • Strong visual and brand instincts with platform-native design sense.
  • Ability to translate concepts into polished, on-brand execution quickly.
  • Highly organized, comfortable managing multiple deliverables at once.
  • Excited about building a new category around active, family-first play.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
