About the role

We’re looking for a senior/staff backend software engineer who will contribute building our core products and own our backend infrastructure. 

You’ll be working alongside our product and engineering teams to develop our core payments infrastructure, mobile application, and web-based applications to manage marketplace and rewards products. As part of our early team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our products with top-tier financial services partners. This is an extremely hands-on and growth-centric role perfect for those who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced startup environments and are passionate about building technology from 0-1 with a customer-first mindset.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Contribute to the development of our core products by contributing primarily to our backend 
  • Build and maintain Mesa's production and staging infrastructure and cloud strategy by introducing best practices with cloud-native technologies like RDS, S3, SQS
  • Drive technical delivery - everything from architectural design to development to QA
  • Participate in customer discovery efforts and initiatives as our beta users help us refine our product
Requirements
  • 7+ years of backend software engineering experience building consumer applications with NodeJS, or similar framework. 
  • Strong proficiency with Typescript is a must
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn managing infrastructure with Terraform and DevOps best practices
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, handle ambiguity, and have strong product ownership mindset
  • Must love dogs 🐶
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience integrating with fintech SaaS products such as Plaid and Marqeta
  • Experience in the payment systems, banking systems
  • Experience in Expo, NestJS
