We are seeking a Senior Windows Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in enterprise Windows platforms and hybrid cloud environments. The candidate will support modernization initiatives and serve as the technical lead for Windows architecture across on-premises and cloud environments.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Windows Infrastructure SME and technical lead for Enterprise platforms.

  • Architect and support hybrid infrastructure environments integrating on-premises systems with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.

  • Design, implement, and maintain Active Directory enterprise environments including:

  • Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).

  • Group Policy design and governance.

  • DNS and DHCP services.

  • Directory replication and trust models.

  • Support hybrid identity integration including synchronization and identity federation with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory).

  • Lead Windows workload migration and modernization initiatives to cloud platforms.

  • Deploy and manage Windows Server environments (2016 / 2019 / 2022 / 2025) across hybrid environments.

  • Implement infrastructure automation using PowerShell and infrastructure-as-code approaches.

  • Design high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies for Windows platforms.

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security hardening, patching, and compliance controls.

  • Troubleshoot complex cross-platform infrastructure issues involving compute, networking, storage, and identity systems.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineers and influencing infrastructure strategy and architecture decisions.

  • Document infrastructure designs, operational procedures, and standards.

  • Certificate Services management knowledge.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree with 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Deep expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and Enterprise Windows administration.

  • Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments and cloud-hosted Windows systems.

  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.

  • Experience designing and implementing high availability, disaster recovery, and backup solutions for Windows infrastructure.

  • Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.

  • Recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, and standards in support of functional strategy and operations.

  • Leads and manages work of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results and outputs.

  • All candidates supporting the CMS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered.

  • US Citizenship required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust.

Required Technical Experience:

  • Hybrid Identity / Identity Federation.

  • Entra ID / Azure AD Connect.

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).

  • Configuration management tools.

  • Enterprise patch management.

  • Monitoring and observability platforms.

  • Cloud networking and security groups.

  • Enterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms.

Certifications (Nice to Have):

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.

  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.

  • Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.

Pay Range:Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
