January is expanding the products and services we provide to borrowers and creditors alike. As a Senior Visual Designer on our New Initiatives team, you’ll lead the visual design and branding efforts behind new products and services—from concept to launch. This is a high-impact role focused on making our early-stage offerings visually compelling, well-positioned, and market-ready.

While your primary focus will be on brand expression, marketing assets, and launch creative, you’ll work closely with product designers and have opportunities to contribute to early product design and concept development.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves building from scratch, and knows how to make new ideas resonate in the market through visual storytelling.

What You’ll Work On

  • Visual Design & Brand Identity: Develop the visual language for new products and services, including logos, style guides, landing pages, and launch assets.

  • Campaign Design: Design marketing campaigns and performance creative that help new offerings reach and convert the right audiences.

  • Product Positioning: Partner with marketing and product leads to shape how new offerings are presented to users—visually and strategically.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with product designers, PMs, and marketers to ensure a cohesive design experience across touchpoints.

  • Influence Early Product Design: Contribute to early product concepting and bring a visual lens to prototyping, storytelling, and validation efforts.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 5+ years of experience in visual or brand design, ideally with experience supporting early-stage products or startups.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to develop and execute brand and marketing creative that drives growth and engagement.

  • Experience leading campaign development, from visual systems to performance marketing assets.

  • A strategic mindset and a passion for translating business and user needs into beautiful, effective design.

  • A deep appreciation for the power of storytelling in marketing—you know how to craft narratives that make new products memorable, trustworthy, and emotionally resonant.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate client insights into effective, innovative design solutions.

  • A self-motivated, proactive approach that thrives in ambiguous environments and values speed without compromising quality.

This role is ideal for a creative, strategic thinker ready to make a significant impact by combining their design and business skills.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
