As a Senior UI/UX Designer, you will collaborate with the UX/UI Lead and Art Team to create high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, design systems, and style guides. You will assist Game Designers and UI Engineers in building rapid prototypes in both Flat and VR environments. In this role, you will have the ability to take wireframes and bring them to life with visuals and animation. You will implement final art in Unreal Editor using UMG, animations, materials, etc.
Responsibilities
- Create intuitive and engaging user interfaces for a game product
- Develop and implement user interfaces and experiences for games
- Develop and maintain UI/UX specifications and style guides
- Develop wireframes, prototypes and interactive mock-ups to visualize design concepts
- Create AAA quality UI Art, implemented with Unreal Engine
- Conduct user research and usability testing to meet our product goals while understanding player needs and preferences
- Gather and integrate feedback from playtests and stakeholders to refine design
- Create and maintain design documentation, style guides, and design specifications for the development team
- Stay up to date with the latest UI/UX trends and best practices in the game industry
Qualifications
- Must have a strong portfolio showing UI/UX designs for multiple shipped games for a variety of platforms.
- Experience in Unreal Engine, specifically blueprints and UMG.
- Strong artistic skills and the ability to create and implement in Unreal Engine.
- Experience with building UI materials & shaders in Unreal Engine.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to creative and innovative solutions.
- Able to accept constructive criticism and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- A deep understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
- 5+ years’ developing a game in a professional setting, with experience developing a multi-platform game from concept to launch.
- Previous experience as a designer on a game title
- Experience providing feedback and guidance to other designers - helping them stay on track and true to the overall vision of the game
- You have a solid grasp of the UI/UX development workflow, able to mentor more junior staff members
- Ability to focus, self-task and work without micro-management while adhering to schedules.
Plusses
- In-depth understanding of Unreal Engine and Blueprint
- Understanding of scripting/programming concepts using a language such as C#, Lua, Javascript, or Python
- Degree in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent experience
The annual salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $125,000 – $140,000. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors. The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.
