Job Description

At Stronghold, we believe that great design begins with clarity—putting the right information in the right place—then evolves into seamless, efficient workflows.

We’re looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer who excels at crafting precise, visually engaging interfaces and then layering in thoughtful user experience to make interactions flow naturally.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on detail, has a passion for beautiful and functional design, and can balance both the structure of the interface (UI) and the logic of the user experience (UX).

Responsibilities

  • Start with UI – Translate requirements into clear, data-rich page layouts, ensuring content is presented in a way that’s visually engaging, intuitive, and accessible.
  • Refine with UX – Once the UI foundation is in place, optimize workflows, interactions, and navigation to ensure users can move through tasks smoothly and efficiently.
  • Design & Prototype – Create low-fidelity designs for quick iterations and high-fidelity designs that demonstrate both visual polish and logical user flow.
  • Collaborate & Build – Work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align design decisions with business needs and technical feasibility.
  • Contribute to the Design System – Expand and maintain Stronghold’s design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency across products.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Design, UI/UX, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years in product design with a strong emphasis on UI, supported by UX expertise.
  • Strong proficiency in design tools; familiarity with front-end implementation is a plus.
  • Experience turning static layouts into user journeys that feel natural and reduce friction.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Figma or similar, with the ability to deliver developer-ready designs.
  • Ability to clearly communicate design decisions and work effectively with developers and product managers.
  • Willingness to iterate, incorporate feedback, and evolve designs from concept to final implementation.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
