Lead Environmental Casualty underwriting strategy and profitability by managing complex referrals, monitoring portfolio performance, maintaining underwriting guidelines, enhancing products, and coaching underwriters. Partner with brokers, clients, and internal teams to support renewals, new business, distribution relationships, and regional production. The role also includes occasional travel, marketing support, and people management.

As a member of North America Specialty (NAS) Environmental's Management team, you will meaningfully contribute to the growth and profitability of our Environmental Casualty products through consistent engagement with Underwriters, Underwriting Managers, other Product Line Managers and other key business stakeholders (Engineering, Claims, Legal, Actuary, Finance). The role requires extensive technical knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, as well as strong insights into the environmental casualty marketplace, including experience working with or at key environmental carriers or brokers
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

- Manage complex referrals and support timely, consistent underwriting decisions.
- Monitor premium, rate, retention, profitability, loss trends, capacity, and aggregation exposure.
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, forms, and product enhancements.
- Support EPIC, excess casualty, auto, and environmental contractors' workers' compensation strategy.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to underwriters.
- Occasional travel and marketing responsibilities, including client and broker visits to support your assigned production teams and regions.
- Strengthen broker and distribution relationships and support renewal and new-business execution.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training plus at least 7 years of relevant environmental casualty production underwriting experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
- Requires at least 3 years of previous people management experience.
- Requires an advanced knowledge of environmental casualty underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, product competition within the marketplace.
- Knowledge/Underwriting experience for workers compensation for environmental contractors.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with brokers, clients, colleagues, and other internal departments.
- Places a high value on collaboration and possesses strong verbal and written communication and organization (multi-tasking) skills.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and decision-making skills.
