We are looking for an experienced and systems-thinking Senior UI/UX Designer to lead the charge in establishing our product design foundation at Turion. This is a scrappy, high-impact role in the early stages of design, where you’ll be instrumental in creating, evolving, and owning UX strategy from the ground up. This would include setting process standards, driving design decisions, and mentoring others as the design function grows. As a Senior UI/UX Designer, you’ll work closely with leadership, engineers, and technical stakeholders to translate complex space systems into intuitive, accessible, and efficient interfaces.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver elegant, scalable, and user-centered experiences for both internal operations and external-facing tools
Build the foundations of the design process—including user research practices, design systems, and usability testing protocols
Partner closely with engineering, product, and technical operations to ensure seamless implementation of interfaces across web and embedded platforms
Translate complex technical concepts into clear user flows and intuitive interfaces
Conduct UX research and usability evaluations to validate design assumptions and prioritize solutions
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals that bring ideas to life
Define and advocate for UX best practices while fostering a design-driven culture across the organization
Drive cross-functional alignment around UX decisions and ensure stakeholder buy-in at every level
5+ years of professional experience in UI/UX or product design
Proven track record of leading design projects end-to-end—from discovery to launch
Experience mentoring or leading other designers, with a passion for creating a supportive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team environment
Portfolio showcasing UX thinking, interaction design, and systems-level problem-solving
Proficiency in Figma and modern design tools
Ability to articulate design rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment
A systems thinker who can design for flexibility, edge cases, and future scale
Experience working in aerospace, defense, or other technical/regulated industries
Experience working in a startup or early-stage environment, where adaptability and initiative are key
Educational or professional background in human psychology, behavior, or cognitive science
Comfortable balancing speed with design quality and knowing when to apply which
Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams
Familiarity with data visualization, telemetry interfaces, or control panel design
