We currently have an opening for a Senior Traffic Engineer. The qualified candidate will manage, direct, and oversee a broad range of traffic related activities and provide staff augmentation services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries or complaints relating to traffic and safety issues.
- Review and approve signal designs, signing and striping, and traffic control plans.
- Participate in special events meetings and prepare/coordinate traffic handling plans.
- Coordinate with developers and consultants on developing project scoping agreements and Traffic Impact Studies.
- Participate in the work of collecting, tabulating, and analyzing traffic information.
- Supervise and coordinate the planning and preparation of work orders for the installation, removal or replacement of traffic signs, markings, protective structures, and streetlights.
- Coordinate with property owner, school groups, public officials and civic organizations regarding traffic-engineering problems.
- Coordinate Traffic Engineering activities with other City departments divisions, and sections and with outside agencies.
- Provide staff support and participate in committees, commissions, and citizen groups related to transportation and traffic matters.
- Conduct field observation regarding traffic-related requests, complaints and concerns.
- Supervise and participate in traffic and transportation studies conducted by consultants.
- Prepare a variety of reports, correspondence, and studies.
- Establish positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff, and the public.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in traffic engineering work in a public agency setting.
- Valid registration as a Traffic Engineer in the State of California is required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
