We are currently seeking a Senior Trade Compliance Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will drive compliance initiatives for our varied product lines and navigate the complexities of international regulations, classifications and global operations. The position requires close collaboration with in-house experts, customs brokers and internal departments to ensure visibility, accountability and efficient processes. Applicants should have extensive experience with the ACE system. The ideal candidate also possesses a strong sense of urgency, the ability to strategize solutions under deadline pressure, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Owning and supporting cross-functional projects with minimal guidance, partnering with stakeholders to identify opportunities, implement solutions, support process optimization and appropriately escalate complex issues
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for internal teams, managing shipment statuses and documentation for specialized monitoring, reporting or compliance needs
  • Conducting thorough audits of customs entry declarations and maintain an ongoing percentage of required audits to ensure compliance and drive process improvement
  • Supporting the development, administration and enforcement of policies and procedures that strengthen compliance levels for both imports and exports
  • Updating HTS classifications as changes are implemented by the CBP and as rulings are issued for imported products
  • Preparing and analyzing trade compliance data and creating reports to track key performance indicators, supporting data-driven decision-making
  • Identifying and resolving customs clearance delays and compliance issues by working directly with customs brokers and relevant internal teams to ensure smooth processing
  • Managing and maintaining recordkeeping for customs entry declaration, U.S. Antidumping and Countervailing Duties and other government agency requirements
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with export controls, economic sanctions and country-specific import/export requirements for exported product

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of import/export experience working for an import broker or a medium to large corporation
  • 4+ years of experience in the field
  • 2+ years of experience working in a similar position minimum
  • 1+ year of experience managing people/projects minimum
  • U.S. Customs Broker License is a plus
  • Broad import/export knowledge, including a deep understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classifications, import duties, tariff engineering, ADD/CVD regulations, PGA requirements, plus export controls and economic sanctions
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
  • Strategic thinker with superb analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with excellent project management and leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate across all areas of the business
  • Sound judgment in routine, day-to-day decision-making with limited support from a manager
  • Ability to assess problems from multiple angles and evaluate the potential implications of different solutions
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide concise updates tailored to the audience
  • Active listening skills with the ability to respond openly and adjust content and delivery as needed
  • Ability to work productively with individuals from diverse perspectives and backgrounds, supporting a “One Lakeshore” approach
  • Consistent delivery of results under limited guidance with strong ownership of assigned work
  • Determination in overcoming obstacles and setbacks
  • Willingness to learn from mistakes and adapt while taking initiative to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills
  • Ability to learn quickly when facing new situations and continuously seek improvement

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
