We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager, Datacenter Portfolio Management with deep technical and business effectiveness, trusted leadership and demonstrated large-scale program management success. You should have exceptional industry knowledge, technical depth in the planning, data review and execution of data centers, and have executive presence to lead complex and time sensitive initiatives.

In this role, the successful candidate will partner closely with key engineering leaders to drive programs focused on transforming how we deliver data centers to our customers. These programs will be on the leading edge of innovation and will include driving pilots and other first of kind programs that shape ongoing strategy in delivering data centers efficiently and on schedule. You balance effective analytical and technical skills with the ability to influence decision makers within the CO+I leadership and execution teams spread across the rest of Azure. You will also partner closely with related teams including our design engineering, construction, networking and data center project management teams.


Responsibilities
  • Differentiate Microsoft data center delivery to create a competitive advantage by applying project and program management expertise.
  • Drive business results through a regimented focus on key performance indicators and business goals, promoting clarity and motivation to the project team to execute on time, under budget, while delivering high quality results with zero rework.
  • Leverage technical acumen in mechanical/electrical systems, structures, and networking infrastructure to facilitate engineering problem solving.
  • Manage cross functional initiatives, focusing on cross-organizational efficiencies and decision making that enable scale through streamlined rhythm of business, tools and processes. 
  • Use experience and expertise to improve and/or deploy templates, automation, and processes.
  • Design and drive implementation of reporting by interfacing with business, engineering, finance, operations, and systems teams to provide actionable insights.
  • Deliver on ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders, unclear requirements, and incomplete data.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, Data Analytics/Science AND 4+ years experience in planning, project management, execution, and stakeholder alignment across large-scale complex organizations
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, Data Analytics/Science AND 8+ years experience in planning, project management, execution, and analytics across large-scale complex organizations OR equivalent experience.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Demonstrates deep subject matter expertise on key functional areas of engineering, procurement, construction, mechanical, electrical, networking, and building automation systems.
  • Expertise working with large-scale data sets and analytics tools (e.g. PowerBI, PowerApps) to derive insights and make process improvements.
  • Comfortable working at the Executive level within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Experience driving execution with hyper-scale cloud engineering groups.
  • Technical program management experience managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, people, risk, and communications.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and experience working with large, diverse teams.
  • Understanding of business and financial objectives and plans accordingly.
  • Demonstrates technical excellence in learning and applying successful strategies and implementing improvements to engineering methods and quality practices across the data center delivery portfolio.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience managing large scale construction or network infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of contract language.

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
