Are you a Technical Product Manager with deep interest in solving Hardtech/Manufacturing problems?

First Resonance is seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to drive the strategy and development of our manufacturing platform. This role is specifically designed for a former Software Engineer who has transitioned into a product leadership role. We require candidates to possess a software engineering background to ensure a smooth partnership with our development team and a deep understanding of our technical architecture.

You will lead the development of innovative software that allows hardware companies to build faster and safer. You will join a high-velocity product team, collaborating directly with engineering, sales, and customers to define the vision, prioritize the roadmap, and launch high-impact features.

Responsibilities & Duties

As a Senior Technical Product Manager, your primary goal is the successful commercial and user-facing optimization of your product domains (e.g., Factory Operations, Inventory Intelligence).

  • Strategic Roadmap Ownership: Define, prioritize, and communicate the product vision and roadmap for critical areas of our manufacturing ecosystem, aligning development efforts with market needs and company goals.

  • Requirement & PRD Definition: Partner with Engineering and Design to transform obscure manufacturing processes into intuitive, technical Product Requirement Documents (PRDs). Your background in SWE must inform your feature definition to prevent unbuildable specs.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate extensive collaboration between Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and Sales to ensure product alignment from ideation to post-launch feedback.

  • Market & Data Analysis: Leverage quantitative user data and competitive landscape analysis to inform decisions, validate product hypothesis, and create compelling initiatives.

  • Lifecycle Management: Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and acceptance testing.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical Foundation: Professional experience as a Software Engineer prior to your product management career (essential for understanding our platform's capabilities).

  • Product Experience: 5+ years of experience in a Product Management role, ideally within a startup or B2B enterprise environment.

  • Domain Expertise: Proven track record working directly with manufacturers, manufacturing engineers, supply chain planners, or factory operators.

  • Technical Fluency: Comfort reading code (for logic understanding) and a strong grasp of APIs, data modeling, and web service patterns.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate strategic initiatives and complex technical constraints to both technical teams and non-technical customers.

  • Customer-Centricity: A passionate, proven ability to deeply understand and validate customer problems before jumping to solutions.

Desired Qualifications

  • Manufacturing Stack: Extensive experience with ERP, MES, PLM, or similar factory-floor software.

Benefits & Perks

  • Health Insurance (medical, vision, dental, life).

  • Paid Parental Leave and Flexible PTO.

  • Employee Stock Option Plan and 401K.

  • Team outings, shared lunches, and open office.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
