Ternary is seeking a Senior Technical Account Manager to join our journey to build the best multi-cloud FinOps platform in the market to help engineers, finance, and business leaders maximize the business value of the cloud. Ternary uniquely provides a self-hosted deployment option, enterprise-grade cost allocation, anomaly detection, and case workflow management to foster collaboration between teams. Join us as we take Cloud FinOps to the next level.

We:

  • Are a passionate team of people who are devoted to building the platform that would have best helped us (engineers, finance, leadership) with Cloud FinOps in our past positions.

  • Have a founding team with deep experience - many of our team members were early employees for the legacy products in the FinOps space and have seen this movie before.

  • Have Enterprise customers operating at scale.

You:

  • Are an empathetic person and active listener who loves building solutions to help others.

  • Have a collaborative attitude and are eager to pair with peers and nontechnical colleagues to get things done.

  • Are willing to work in a mostly remote setting in a Continental USA time zone (from Pacific to Eastern).

  • Love working at startups and want your work to have immediate impact.

  • Have 3+ years experience working directly with customers in a pre-sales engineering role or post-sales technical account manager role.

  • Understand and are comfortable talking about cloud financial management topics and able to relate those topics to the largest cloud service providers including Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the voice of the customer to translate and prioritize customer feature requests into product feature requests. You understand how to build relationships with customers in the best possible way.

  • Own the adoption, implementation, and enablement of Ternary's platform for our customers while solving their most challenging cloud financial management challenges.

  • You can express yourself clearly and in different ways for different audiences.

  • Your experience, knowledge, and skills allow you to dive deep and earn customers' trust.

  • You may have experience working with Managed Service Providers, enabling their technical and sales teams to deliver the Ternary platform to their customers.

  • You are a FinOps Certified Practitioner or have a strong interest in the area.

The estimated base salary for this role ranges from $125,000-$165,000, along with a generous equity component. This range is merely an estimate, and the width of the range reflects a willingness to consider candidates with broad prior seniority. Actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Comp and benefits:

  • Company-sponsored travel to interact with colleagues several times a year.

  • We provide generous health benefits, 401(k) plan, and a WFH budget for you to set up your home office (not available for contract or short term roles such as internships).

  • Equity compensation so that all employees can participate in Ternary's success (not available for contract or short term roles such as internships).

  • The team culture is the best of what you would expect to see at a startup combined with a level of maturity you would see at a much larger company.

At Ternary, we value diversity. We are an equal opportunity employer: we do not discriminate on the basis of racial orientation, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. Ternary is a remote-first company.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
