About Wing:

Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Sr. Staff UX Designer to join our Product & UX team. This role can be hybrid in Palo Alto, CA, or fully remote within the United States. In this role, you will architect the future of autonomous logistics, defining how individuals, merchants, and partners interact with the world’s leading drone delivery ecosystem. As a senior individual contributor, you will lead end-to-end design across a mission-critical portfolio: consumer-facing apps, partner and merchant operations, and the internal tools that power our flight and logistics operations.

In this role, you’ll move beyond traditional software paradigms to solve unique challenges at the intersection of physical and software experiences.

Working between cutting-edge hardware, on the ground logistics, and software experiences, you will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, UX Research, and Aviation Operations teams to take complex, ambiguous problems from early concept to flight. You’ll drive a culture of design excellence and craft, mentor fellow designers, and ensure Wing’s technology is functional, efficient, intuitive, proactive, and human-centric.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead end-to-end design across the full product lifecycle—from early discovery, user journeys, and information architecture to interactive prototypes and high-fidelity visual execution
  • Craft seamless, intuitive experiences for our consumer-facing mobile applications and build scalable integration experiences for our retail and delivery partners
  • Map and optimize the complex service workflows that connect merchant fulfillment, ground operations, and real-time delivery logistics
  • Design sophisticated internal tools and operational dashboards used to configure, monitor, and manage a fleet of autonomous aircraft and delivery networks
  • Partner with UX Research to design user interviews, studies, and testing, translating qualitative insights into actionable design decisions
  • Contribute to, evolve, and scale the design system and visual language across the Wing ecosystem
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Hardware, and Aviation Operations partners to navigate technical and regulatory constraints, while elevating team craft through design critiques and mentorship

What You’ll Need:

15+ years of experience in design, product design, or interaction design, with a proven track record of designing and shipping impactful consumer, enterprise, or multi-platform software productsA strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design process, systems thinking, interaction and visual design craft, and shipped products

  • BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, product, graphic, visual communications, industrial), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience designing for complex, multi-sided ecosystems (e.g., marketplaces connecting consumers, merchants, and logistics), physical-software workflows, or automated/AI-powered systems where building user trust is critical
  • Expert proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, rapid and AI-assisted prototyping), with experience contributing to or scaling design systems
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously in high-ambiguity environments, framing complex problems, and driving design vision and strategy from concept through iterative execution
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to align Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders on the user and business value of design decisions
  • Track record of design leadership as an individual contributor, including elevating design quality standards, establishing design processes, and mentoring fellow designers

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
