The Senior/Staff Systems Architect will lead analytics-driven architectural evaluations, assessing performance and operational efficiency in autonomous driving systems.
We are seeking a Senior/Staff Software Systems Architect with strong analytical and technical skills to gather, interpret, and present data that supports architecture decisions for our autonomous driving platform. This role sits at the intersection of software, hardware, and systems design, with a focus on collecting and analyzing real-world performance, telemetry, and service data to provide the evidence base for robust, scalable, and efficient solutions. You will analyze power and performance measurements, assess service and operational efficiency, and identify solutions to potential integration bottlenecks or failure risks, ensuring that vehicle platform architectural evolution is grounded in clear, data-backed insights.
You will play a key role in profiling system performance, assessing operational efficiency, and identifying bottlenecks or failure risks across compute and service layers. Your insights will directly influence vehicle platform architecture, compute module design, and fail-operational strategies.
In this role, you will:
- Lead analytics-driven architectural evaluations across compute, networking, and software.
- Apply analytical tools to logs and real-time data from simulation and test environments to validate architectural changes for power efficiency and performance.
- Identify and resolve inefficiencies and scalability risks, ensuring smooth progression from prototype to large-scale deployments (hundreds to thousands of vehicles).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including service owners, safety, hardware, and infrastructure—to ensure reliability, fault tolerance, and efficient operation under real-world constraints.
- Deliver clear, data-backed recommendations to stakeholders, enabling informed system design and long-term architectural planning.
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in systems architecture or system design, with a strong background in software, hardware, or embedded systems.
- Proven expertise in profiling and analyzing power and performance.
- Experience designing and validating fail-operational, fault-tolerant systems using real-world failure and performance data.
- Ability to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, power optimizations, and scaling risks, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize system reliability and efficiency.
- Strong communicator, able to translate complex technical insights into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in Linux environments with hands-on experience using power and profiling tools.
- Experience with Databricks, Looker, and Grafana for gathering analytics and dashboarding.
- Experience with systems or SW development for an autonomous vehicle company.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene
Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
- Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
- Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
- Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
- Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
- Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
