Position: Senior Staff Software Engineer
Location: Long Beach, CA
Responsibilities: Solve complex challenges for Zwift’s platform architecture related to
salability, reliability and availability. Design and implement architecture
to allow for increased numbers of concurrent users. Improve observability
of backend systems using industry knowledge on logging, metrics, and
tracing to average recovery times. Analyze architecture and development
of services and devise solutions for improving inefficiencies and
inconsistencies in results. Develop solutions for modifying services to
support new case uses. Oversee engineering teams to ensure best practices
are utilized in projects. Utilize event sourcing to identify and resolve bugs
at a reduced rate. Plan, design, and oversee teams in building and
maintaining new services for Zwift’s fitness platform. Identify gaps in
engineering knowledge, create customized training plans to address the
gaps, and oversee application of training. Develop long term engineering
goals. Participate in design phases of various proprietary management
solutions and future use cases.
Educ./experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related
field, plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience as a Senior Staff
Software Engineer, Systems Analyst or in a related position. Experience
must include Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), backend services, testing
software, architectural design, cost management, building CI/CD
pipelines, and Java Application servers.
