Facilities Engineering – Manufacturing Plant
Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer / Electrical Specialist will support the Facilities Engineering team by ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems across the manufacturing plant. This role focuses on electrical infrastructure, equipment support, code compliance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain uptime and support production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of facility electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and emergency power systems
- Collaborate with Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, and Production teams to support plant operations and minimize downtime
- Troubleshoot electrical issues affecting building systems, utilities, and manufacturing equipment
- Review electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications for new projects and facility upgrades
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and utility providers on electrical work and service interruptions
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and internal policies
- Support capital projects, renovations, and expansions by providing electrical engineering input and field oversight
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs and reliability improvements
- Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for electrical failures
- Maintain documentation, drawings, and asset records related to electrical systems
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical training and experience
- Experience working with industrial or manufacturing electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safe work practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Experience supporting facilities or utilities in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Experience managing or overseeing electrical contractors
- PLC, controls, or automation exposure (depending on plant needs)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and industrial facility setting
- Combination of office-based engineering work and on-site field support
- May require occasional off-shift or weekend support during outages or critical work
