About Droplet

Droplet provides a suite of document automation tools that helps organizations get the right information to the right people, fast. What started as a web form and approval workflow solution, built for school districts, out of a garage in Provo, Utah, has grown into one of the fastest-growing software companies in the nation! We're a lean team of 30 motivated, hardworking individuals who are passionate about solving hard problems and delivering real value to customers. Our two flagship products, DropletForms and DropletSign, are leading the charge in helping organizations move away from paper-based processes and embrace the 21st century. With strong year-over-year revenue growth, great financial stability (we're profitable!), and many more exciting products to come, Droplet is only just getting started!

About Droplet Engineering

Droplet engineering is a small but mighty team spread across the United States. We collaborate heavily in Slack, pair programming, and code reviews. We work with designers and customer success to understand user problems and build the right thing. We try to have just enough process to limit the chaos but not so much that it keeps us from getting stuff done. We value building the right thing well. We iterate on our product, architecture, and skills to get better at all of them. We communicate kindly and clearly in a safe environment.

AI-Enabled Software Engineering

We use AI to go faster, build more, reduce toil, and deliver higher-quality stuff to users. We care deeply about using AI well. We stay up to date on new developments in AI-enabled software engineering. We try new things and learn from each other. We invest a lot in building systems that help robots build things the right way. We have a ton of rules, skills, linting, and docs that help guide humans and agents to build things the right way, and are always iterating on that. Our current stack is a mix of Claude Code and Cursor for local development, Cursor Agents and Automations for cloud development and background work (incident investigation, Sentry issue fixing, PR feedback and correction, QA passes, etc), and Devin for code reviews.

Tech Stack

React, TypeScript, node.js, Postgres, AWS, GitHub, Terraform, and the power of friendship.

Job Qualifications

We're describing our perfect candidate. If you're missing some of these but still interested, talk to us anyway!

  • You ship great software to users.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have five or more years of professional software development experience, with three or more years working with JavaScript and three or more years working with AWS or a comparable cloud environment.
  • You are great at AI-enabled software development. You use LLMs responsibly to build great software. You help others get better at this.
  • You have experience working across the web stack, from UI to infrastructure. You don't need to be an expert with the whole stack, but you should be productive across it.
  • You collaborate well with product and design to understand user needs and produce technical designs that meet those needs.
  • You help other engineers get better and get more done with technical leadership.
The Interview Process

We try to make our interview process like the job. You'll read some code, write some code, talk about architecture, and share past experiences. We want you to do your best, not stress out about artificial evaluations. Here is how it'll go:

  1. We'll send you a take-home coding exercise. Try not to spend more than four hours on it.
  2. 15-minute phone screen.
  3. One hour interview with Jamison Dance, the head of engineering and hiring manager.
  4. One hour interview with Sky Hair, the CTO and co-founder.
  5. We check references to make sure you're not three toddlers stacked on top of each other in a trench coat.
  6. You come on-site to the office in Lehi, UT, for a day to meet the team and work together a bit.
  7. Offer letter!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
