About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer within the Infrastructure team, you are a key person in managing and scaling the systems and services that power our streaming platform with a focus on our edge services and networking technologies. Your expertise enables you to take on complex challenges independently and create scalable solutions that meet our customers' needs. You will work with other members of Infrastructure Engineering and delivery teams to lead projects, driving them forward to completion and ensuring that the platform processes and best practices are being followed. In close collaboration with other engineers, you will be responsible for ensuring our traffic management and cloud networking architecture are secure, fast, and reliable. You are expected to take initiatives to improve what we do overall, introduce new technologies and processes when it is needed and share knowledge across teams. You will report to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering.

About You

You have an in-depth understanding of cloud networking, software, and DevOps methodologies, automation, and infrastructure as code. Your experience in designing, building, and scaling high availability systems shows your commitment to operational excellence. You excel in a collaborative environment and can work well with your teammates, providing a good example to other engineers to achieve high quality and standards in everything they do.

Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, information systems, or similar.
  • 8+ years of experience working in production-level environments with at least 5 years directly engineering edge infrastructure and networks as a DevOps/SRE
  • Proficient in AWS cloud technologies, coupled with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Pulumi and Terraform
  • Proven experience managing global traffic via Cloudflare or other traffic manager, including DNS, CDN, and intelligent load balancing to optimize application performance
  • Demonstrated ability to secure cloud-native environments using Cloudflare’s suite of tools, specially WAF, DDos mitigation, and Zero Trust access polices.
  • Able to proactively analyze Cloudflare traffic patterns and metrics to rapidly troubleshoot global delivery failures, caching conflicts, and origin-to-edge connectivity bottlenecks
  • Proven experience architecting and automating secure, scalable cloud networks, including VPCs, subnets and routing
  • Demonstrated ability to implement robust load balancing, DNS strategies, and granular access controls to ensure secure, performant cloud-native communication
  • Able to investigate and resolve complex cloud connectivity issues, leveraging logs and metrics to remediate latency, routing anomalies, and packet loss in high-traffic environments.
  • Experience in GitOps practices and CI/CD.
  • Experience managing Linux based infrastructure.
  • Experience with CDN and caching technologies including AWS CloudFront.
  • Experience working with and guiding Software Engineers in production best practices, sharing knowledge across teams and teammates.
  • Experience in at least two or more programming languages
  • Able to accommodate periodic off-hour meetings with the international team members.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Participate in an on-call and developer support rotations.
Pluses:
  • Knowledge of streaming video delivery, video encoding workflows, video origin architecture, and issues of scale for video delivery.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript
  • Familiarity with big data and payments domain.
  • Understand security concepts such as cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security protocols.
  • Familiarity with Datadog
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions
