About the Role:

Awerx is a new startup business unit within Relativity Space set to agentically engineer the future of aerospace. Awerx is building agentic CAD and operations tools for Relativity and External customers. The team recently launched the first agentically engineered, liquid fueled rockets and is expanding its agentic tooling to support more use cases and customers.

Awerx is building a core CAD engine that ships in several customer-specific versions. A senior engineer is essential to own the architecture, keep the core stable across every variant, and lead the customer-facing side Awerx CAD tools inside and outside of Relativity Space. We are looking for an expert software engineer with experience building in 3D environments with agentic first workflows.

What you'll do:

  • Own the architecture of a shared core 3D engine that supports multiple customer-specific products
  • Support teams bringing these agentic designs into reality
  • Turn product requirements into architecture that holds up as the product line grows
  • Work with an agentic first (human) team across agent swarms and human-agent communication interfaces
  • Review and steer work produced by AI agents
  • Own the customer-facing side of product engineering and integrated product enhancements while maintaining mission critical agentic capabilities

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture, ideally on multi-platform products (game engines, CAD tools, or similar)
  • Experience running agents at home (beyond Claude Code), and are Comfortable using agentic coding tools day to day, with good judgement on what agents are outputting
  • Comfortable working across several coding languages, with deep experience in one or two
  • Experience working across products or teams, and demonstrated ability to learn entirely new domains and technologies beyond existing experience

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience developing with 20th century CAD vintages or CAD ecosystems (SolidWorks, Teamcenter, NX, plugin development)
  • GPU / CUDA programming/tuning experience
  • Shipping and maintaining software for multiple architectures with feature parity and reliability across all
  • Mechanical engineering background, or having built real things with CAD / 3D printers

Hiring Range:
$154,000—$230,000 USD
