Senior Social Media Manager
Role OverviewWe are looking for a highly capable, hands-on Senior Social Media Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of high-value Facebook pages across our entertainment and media network. The role will initially be centred on Facebook, while also helping extend successful brands and content across Instagram, TikTok, X and other platforms.
Our pages serve large, highly engaged communities built around some of the world’s biggest entertainment verticals, including Netflix, horror, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, gaming, film, television and wider fandom culture.
This role will be responsible for the day-to-day performance and growth of several established pages, while also supporting content execution and strategy across the wider network. The ideal candidate combines strong editorial judgment, platform expertise and a genuine understanding of online entertainment communities and the content that drives them.
Key Responsibilities- Own and manage a portfolio of approximately 5–7 Facebook pages, including several high-value and established assets.
- Take full responsibility for daily content sourcing, captioning, publishing, scheduling and optimisation across assigned pages and channels.
- Deliver consistently strong posting volume without sacrificing content quality, accuracy or relevance.
- Be accountable for performance across impressions, engagement, follower growth and revenue.
- Identify, develop and scale news templates, graphics, memes, short-form video and other engagement-led content formats.
- Create, edit and repurpose platform-native short-form video content, including selecting footage, developing strong hooks, adding captions and on-screen text, and adapting assets to the requirements of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other platforms.
- Source and package content across major entertainment verticals such as Netflix, horror, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, gaming, film and television.
- Understand the different audiences, tones and content opportunities within each assigned fandom or vertical.
- Monitor page and post performance throughout the day and adjust content mix, frequency, caption length and timing based on results.
- Identify emerging trends, breaking news, trailers, casting updates, announcements and other high-potential content opportunities quickly.
- Develop original content ideas that generate meaningful engagement while remaining appropriate for each page’s audience and identity.
- Share strong-performing content, formats and learnings across the wider social network.
- Assist with posting and coverage across other priority pages during major news cycles, team absences or performance gaps.
- Help improve underperforming pages by identifying weaknesses in content selection, execution, branding or posting strategy.
- Support other Social Media Managers by sharing feedback, examples and proven best practices.
- Collaborate with social leadership on page strategy, content testing, network-wide initiatives and performance priorities.
- Provide clear updates on page performance, experiments, key learnings, risks and next steps.
- Maintain high standards of editorial accuracy, brand consistency, platform compliance and content quality.
- Assigned pages and channels consistently meet or exceed performance expectations.
- High-value assets maintain strong and reliable output throughout the week, with content scheduled in advance to ensure consistent weekend coverage.
- Content feels native and relevant to each entertainment vertical and fandom.
- Winning content formats are identified quickly and scaled across relevant pages.
- Pages demonstrate measurable growth in reach, engagement, followers and revenue.
- The wider network benefits from additional coverage, stronger ideas and shared learnings.
- 1-3 years of experience in social media management, preferably within entertainment, media, gaming, film or television.
- Strong knowledge of online fandom culture and major entertainment properties, such as Netflix, Marvel, DC, Star Wars, horror and gaming.
- Demonstrated ability to grow reach and engagement across established social accounts, with particularly strong knowledge of Facebook.
- Excellent understanding of Facebook content performance, audience behaviour and platform trends.
- Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify news, stories and content with high viral potential.
- Proficiency with Canva and/or Adobe Photoshop, with the ability to create, adapt and quality-check social graphics.
- Required hands-on short-form video production and editing experience using tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar software.
- Strong understanding of platform-native video formats, hooks, pacing, captions, aspect ratios and other creative elements that improve retention and engagement.
- Experience using third-party social publishing and scheduling tools such as Post Planner, Hootsuite, Sprout Social or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of content scheduling, queue management and maintaining consistent coverage across weekdays and weekends.
- Comfortable working across multiple Facebook pages and managing a high volume of scheduled and reactive content.
- Experience using platform analytics and reporting tools to assess performance and inform content decisions.
- Confident using AI-powered creative tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini or similar platforms to support image generation, visual ideation and efficient social content creation.
- Ability to adapt tone, content selection and creative execution across different fandoms and audience groups.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high posting volume and rapidly changing priorities.
- Highly organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple valuable pages independently.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Able to interpret performance data and turn insights into clear content decisions.
- Willing to support the wider team and contribute beyond directly assigned pages.
