About the Role
Maleda Tech is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to join a growing Threat Detection and Response function supporting a major technology organization. This front-line security team detects, investigates, and responds to internal and external threats and malicious activity across the organization's systems and infrastructure.
As a senior member of the team, you'll help define and execute the vision for threat detection and incident response capabilities, mentor other engineers, and drive novel approaches to detecting, containing, and mitigating threats - with direct impact on building, optimizing, and scaling security capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform investigations of security incidents using digital forensics and data analytics
- Apply coding, data analytics, and investigative skills to hunt, detect, and respond to threats
- Build automation and detection models to identify anomalous activity and support response efforts at scale
- Proactively hunt for threats across corporate and production environments
- Collaborate with engineering teams to build advanced detection solutions, partnering closely with Legal, Privacy, and other cross-functional teams on complex investigations
- Identify visibility gaps across the environment and partner with business teams to close them through improved logging and detection
- Partner cross-functionally to drive efficient, large-scale incident response
- Contribute to root cause analysis that eliminates entire classes of security problems, not just individual incidents
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, including investigations, incident response, incident management, digital forensics, threat intelligence, threat hunting, and/or detection engineering
- Proficiency in Python or another scripting language; experience with SQL and Pandas a plus
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch preferred
- Ability to lead through influence in complex, ambiguous situations
- Ability to work calmly and collaboratively in high-stress, high-stakes situations
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills
- Familiarity with the Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks
- Experience automating security detection and response workflows
- Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) preferred
- Self-motivated, creative problem-solver comfortable working independently
- Start Date: September 15, 2026
- Engagement Length: Approximately 12 months (through September 15, 2027)
- Location: Remote (within the US)
- Schedule: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, Monday-Friday
- Pay Rate: $130-$142/hour
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
