Job Description SummaryThe Opportunity:
If you thrive at the intersection of commercial strategy, operational rigor, and executive partnership — and you want that work to matter at scale — this role was built for you. GE Vernova is at the center of one of the most consequential energy transitions in history, and the North America New Units Sales organization is on the front lines of winning the business that makes it possible. As Senior Sales Operations Leader - Wind, you will serve as a trusted thought partner and force multiplier for the General Manager (GM) / Executive Director of North America New Units Sales — bringing structure, accountability, and momentum to a team of experienced sales professionals working on high-stakes commercial opportunities.
This is a senior individual contributor role with direct reporting to the regional sales leader and a dotted-line relationship with the Commercial Enablement Leader, aligning regional priorities with enterprise-wide standards and capabilities.

Job Description

What You'll Do

Strategy & Leadership Support

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the GM / Executive Director — translating sales priorities into clear plans, accountable actions, and disciplined follow-through.
  • Represent the North America New Units Sales organization in cross-functional leadership forums; develop executive briefings, decision materials, and recommendations.
  • Lead high-priority initiatives across Sales, Finance, Product, Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Competitiveness teams.
  • Partner with Sales Excellence to deploy enterprise processes while advocating for regional needs and market realities.

Operating Cadence & Accountability

  • Design and lead a practical regional sales operating mechanism aligned to global standards and tailored to the North American market.
  • Establish effective cadences covering pipeline health, bidding activity, opportunity and account reviews, customer engagement planning, and leadership reporting.
  • Ensure reviews are decision-oriented — with clear owners, escalation paths, and consistent follow-through.
  • Identify execution gaps and mobilize cross-functional support to resolve issues before they affect customers or commercial outcomes.

Commercial Execution & Customer Focus

  • Partner with sales leaders to sharpen pipeline quality, opportunity prioritization, forecast confidence, and conversion from pursuit to order — leveraging strong data analytics.
  • Support rigorous win planning for priority opportunities, including customer value proposition development, competitive positioning, executive sponsorship, and risk management.
  • Strengthen account and customer engagement planning — including relationship mapping, leadership engagement, meeting preparation, and disciplined follow-up.
  • Support the Competitiveness Team in win/loss reviews and translate insights into improved pursuit strategy and internal execution.

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Convert commercial data into clear, actionable insights on pipeline health, sales performance, market trends, and loss drivers.
  • Partner with the Commercial Excellence and Commercial Digital Strategy teams to improve dashboards, key performance indicator (KPI) tracking, data quality, and adoption of customer relationship management (CRM) and commercial tools.
  • Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to eliminate low-value activity and strengthen commercial execution across the team.

Who You Are

You are a commercially minded operator who combines analytical sharpness with executive presence — someone who can hold the big picture and the details at the same time, and who earns trust quickly in high-performance environments.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business, engineering, finance, economics, analytics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in sales operations, commercial strategy, chief of staff, business operations, sales leadership, pricing, commercial finance, or related discipline.
  • 15-20% travel based on business needs
  • Significant experience in sales operations, commercial excellence, strategy, or a Chief of Staff function — ideally within a complex industrial, energy, or technology business
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leaders and drive accountability across cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience turning data into actionable commercial insights
  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Configure Price Quote (CPQ), Tableau, or similar analytics and commercial performance tools
  • Excellent communication skills — written, verbal, and executive presentation

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience supporting a North American or regional sales organization in a power, energy, or capital equipment environment
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or structured continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with win/loss analysis and competitive intelligence processes

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
