We are seeking a Senior Software Developer (Ruby on Rails) to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is passionate about building high-quality applications, driving technical excellence, and contributing to a collaborative development culture.

As a Senior Developer, you will play a key role in shaping technical direction, mentoring junior team members, and delivering scalable solutions that meet the diverse needs of stakeholders. You will work closely with product managers, designers, architects, and other developers to translate business requirements into secure, reliable, and high-performing applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-Stack Development: Design, build, and maintain modern web applications with Ruby on Rails and supporting technologies.
  • Collaboration: Partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to define feature requirements, set priorities, and ensure successful delivery.
  • Technical Leadership: Conduct code reviews, set coding standards, and mentor junior developers to foster knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Architecture & Design: Participate in system design and architecture discussions, recommending improvements to enhance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Build and operate applications in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring security and resilience.
  • Agile Practices: Contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to support an iterative and transparent development process.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure applications adhere to security, reliability, and performance best practices through testing, automation, and monitoring.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating them where appropriate to improve efficiency and capabilities.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong focus on Ruby on Rails
  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and deploying scalable web applications in production environments

Technical Skills

  • Ruby on Rails expertise, with deep understanding of Rails architecture, conventions, and performance optimization
  • Front-end development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular
  • Strong skills in relational database design, optimization, and query performance (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent)
  • Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Skilled in designing, building, and integrating RESTful and GraphQL APIs
  • Strong background in automated testing frameworks (RSpec, Minitest, or similar) and test-driven development (TDD)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and monitoring tools
  • Understanding of secure coding practices, application-level security, and data protection standards

Professional Skills

  • Ability to mentor junior developers and provide constructive code reviews
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a systematic, detail-oriented approach
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working in Agile teams
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, adapt to shifting requirements, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth

  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a security clearance
