We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join Datadog's growing Finance team. In this role, you will support the company's revenue accounting operations by partnering across Finance, Customer Success, Sales Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, billing, and financial reporting. You'll play a key role in improving order-to-cash processes, supporting month-end close activities, and helping scale finance operations in a fast-growing SaaS environment. This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in technical accounting, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration while contributing to Datadog's continued growth.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You'll Do:

  • Execute month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze complex customer billing arrangements and prepare revenue recognition analyses in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Manage invoicing activities, calculate key revenue metrics, and partner with customers and internal teams to resolve billing questions.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success, Deal Desk, Sales Systems, and Order Operations to improve the order-to-cash process and operational efficiency.
  • Support internal and external audit activities, including revenue walkthroughs and preparation of audit documentation.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and other cross-functional finance projects that support business growth.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably at a public company or Big Four accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of revenue accounting principles, including experience applying ASC 606 guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate about improving processes and leveraging technology to drive operational efficiency.
  • Experience with SaaS business models is preferred; CPA (or progress toward certification), and experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, Tableau, or Microsoft Access are a plus.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That’s okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • Join a collaborative Finance organization that partners across the business to drive operational excellence.
  • Build expertise in SaaS revenue accounting and technical accounting in a high-growth public company.
  • Gain exposure to cross-functional initiatives that improve financial systems and business processes.
  • Work alongside experienced finance professionals in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
  • Develop your career through challenging projects and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Be part of a company committed to innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
