Who We Are

Perchwell is the modern real estate listings platform built for agents to search smarter, collaborate better, and close deals faster. We are building the future of residential real estateʼs critical listings infrastructure: a platform where market  research and client collaboration converge. Our modern architecture enables continuous innovation at a pace legacy systems cannot match, with AI-powered features and mobile-first capabilities designed for how agents actually work. As consumer expectations and technology evolve, Perchwell remains focused on our core vision:  empowering real estate professionals with the most intelligent, data-driven, and connected platform in the industry.

Backed by leading venture capital firms including Lux Capital and Founders Fund, along with strategic partnerships with some of the country's top Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), Perchwell represents the first major new platform to enter the listings technology market in decades. This unique combination of institutional investment and deep industry alignment provides both the resources and market validation needed to transform the multi-trillion dollar residential real estate industry.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a hands-on Senior QA Engineer to help ensure the quality and reliability of Perchwell's web and native mobile applications.

You'll maintain and expand our established Playwright/TypeScript automation suite, with 1,500+ tests running daily, while taking ownership of improving our existing Appium mobile automation framework, initially prioritizing iOS.

This role combines automation engineering with regular hands-on manual testing. We're looking for someone who can independently troubleshoot complex issues, improve existing automation solutions, and contribute to overall product quality.

Why this Role Matters

QA at Perchwell is a small, high-impact team, and we need someone who isn’t just looking to “run tests” — we need someone who wants to build frameworks, strengthen quality processes, and help us scale testing across mobile and web as our platform grows.
This is a role for someone who cares about both precision and proactivity, who knows how to test deeply but also knows how to build systems that help others ship safely.

What You’ll Work On

Mobile Automation — Appium

  • Own improvements to our existing Appium framework for native iOS and Android applications.

  • Expand existing Appium framework.

  • Develop reliable mobile test coverage, initially prioritizing iOS.

  • Improve mobile automation stability, CI/CD integration, and reporting.

Web Automation — Playwright / TypeScript

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and expand our existing Playwright/TypeScript test suite.

  • Investigate flaky tests, resolve failures, and improve automation reliability.

  • Develop automated coverage for new and existing functionality.

Manual Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Perform manual and exploratory testing across web and mobile applications.

  • Design test scenarios, investigate defects, and identify coverage gaps.

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, SREs, and QA engineers to ensure product quality.

  • Analyze and triage regression execution reports for Web and Mobile.

Required for this Role
  • 5+ years of QA experience, combining manual testing and test automation.

  • Ability to independently solve technical problems and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.

  • Strong TypeScript proficiency, including debugging, asynchronous programming, and maintainable code design.

  • Strong hands-on Appium experience, including developing or significantly improving automation frameworks for native iOS and/or Android applications.

  • Experience troubleshooting mobile automation issues involving drivers, devices, native locators, and application lifecycle.

  • Solid Playwright experience, including developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated tests.

  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, exploratory testing, and defect investigation.

  • Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.

Nice to Have
  • Experience improving legacy automation frameworks or maintaining large-scale test suites.

  • Experience with API automated testing.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing tools.

This role is open to remote, but those located in the NYC area will work out of our New York City HQ in Soho Manhattan at least 3 days/week (including Mondays, which are mandatory in-office days).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
