Humana is looking for a Senior Proofreader to help ensure every member, patient, and provider communication is accurate, clear, compliant, and consistent with brand standards. In this role, you will support high-volume marketing and operational work by reviewing content across digital, print, and direct-to-consumer channels before it reaches the people who rely on Humana for trusted health information.
A typical day may include proofreading campaign materials, validating revisions against marked-up files, checking content for grammar, punctuation, formatting, accessibility, and brand consistency, and partnering with writers, designers, project managers, and quality assurance leaders to resolve issues before final delivery.

The Senior Proofreader reviews customer-facing and internal communications to ensure content is error-free, consistent, and ready for production. This role supports quality assurance processes by verifying that creative and content deliverables meet approved copy, brand, accessibility, and regulatory standards. The work directly contributes to clearer member and patient experiences by reducing errors and improving confidence in Humana communications. The Senior Proofreader also helps teams maintain efficient workflows by identifying patterns, documenting issues, and supporting continuous improvement. 

Key Role Functions

  • Proofread marketing, member, patient, provider, and operational materials for grammar, punctuation, spelling, formatting, style, and consistency

  • Compare final content against approved source files, change requests, and marked-up documents to confirm all revisions are accurate and complete

  • Apply Humana brand, editorial, accessibility, and quality standards across print, digital, email, web, SMS, social, and direct mail deliverables

  • Collaborate with writers, designers, project managers, compliance partners, and quality assurance leaders to resolve content issues before release

  • Track recurring errors, share proofreading insights, and recommend process improvements that strengthen content quality and member experience

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • 5+ years of professional proofreading, editing, copyediting, or quality review experience

  • 2+ years of experience reviewing customer-facing content in marketing, communications, healthcare, insurance, financial services, or another regulated environment

  • Demonstrated ability to proofread across multiple channels, including print, web, email, direct mail, social, and digital communications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and collaborative workflow or review tools

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience proofreading Medicare, Medicaid, pharmacy, provider, or healthcare marketing materials

  • Experience applying AP Style, brand voice guidelines, editorial style guides, or regulated content standards

  • Experience using Workfront, SharePoint, Adobe Creative Cloud review tools, or similar project management and proofing platforms

  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards, plain language principles, and inclusive language practices

  • Experience supporting high-volume creative, content, or quality assurance workflows in an agency, in-house agency, or enterprise marketing environment

Location & Work Arrangement 

  • Preferred locations: Arlington, VA; Louisville, KY; Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Tampa, FL; Nashville, TN; Dallas, TX; Seattle, WA; Denver, CO; Fort Lauderdale, FL

  • Periodic in-office work may be required to support collaboration, key meetings, and leadership engagement. Remote options will be considered based on role needs and candidate experience

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$86,300 - $118,700 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
