Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic Global Transformation team. This position reports to the Senior Program Manager and is responsible for leading complex, cross-functional initiatives that improve how the organization works, scales, and delivers value. This role translates strategic priorities into clear plans, drives disciplined execution, manages risks and decisions, and communicates progress in a concise, executive-ready way. We are looking for a highly self-directed project leader who can create structure in ambiguity, move work forward with limited direction, and help set the standard for excellent project delivery.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.  Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

What You Will Do:

Project Delivery & Execution:

  • Lead project setup, planning, and execution, including charters, roadmaps, integrated schedules, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and phase exit criteria.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery by driving task ownership, timeline management, decision tracking, issue resolution, progress reporting, and timely escalation of risks or blockers.
  • Bring structure to ambiguous work by assessing what is needed, sequencing activities, managing scope, budget, and quality impacts, and keeping work moving with limited direction.

Stakeholder Leadership & Communication:

  • Lead cross-functional teams across business, technology, change management, vendor, program management, and executive stakeholder groups.
  • Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, steering committee discussions, milestone reviews, and decision forums with clear objectives and outcomes.
  • Deliver concise, executive-ready communications that clearly communicate project health, progress, risks, decisions needed, next steps, adoption, business value, and operational readiness.

Governance, Standards & Continuous Improvement:

  • Apply project management standards, lifecycle phases, governance forums, reporting expectations, and required project artifacts.
  • Ensure projects follow appropriate delivery discipline, including feasibility, design, build, test, deploy, close, sustainment, milestone reviews, change control, and formal approvals as applicable.
  • Identify gaps in current practices and recommend practical improvements that raise the standard for project delivery.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of project management experience leading complex, cross-functional transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects, create structure in ambiguity, and drive work forward with limited direction.
  • Experience applying project governance, delivery lifecycle discipline, milestone reviews, change control, executive reporting, and project artifact standards.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet, Microsoft 365, or similar project management and collaboration tools preferred.

 Preferred Skills:

  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder influence, conflict-resolution, and executive communication skills.
  • High ownership mindset with the confidence to dive in, diagnose the situation, and define the path forward without waiting for detailed instruction.
  • Familiarity with business transformation, ERP or enterprise systems, process optimization, operating model design, integration, or change management initiatives.
  • Experience supporting adoption, communications, training readiness, value realization, and transition to steady-state operations.

 Key Success Metrics

  • Projects are delivered with clear scope, approved plans, managed risks, timely decisions, and transparent communication.
  • Stakeholders have confidence in the project direction, execution discipline, and expected business value.
  • Project documentation is current, consistent, and useful for decision-making and delivery.
  • The Senior Project Manager raises the bar for project leadership by improving standards, tools, and ways of working.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
