About Mento

Mento is a performance coaching platform on a mission to increase human potential at global scale and help people — and companies — grow.

We believe coaching is one of the most powerful ways to unlock meaningful professional growth. We also believe the future of coaching is human + AI: deeply human where trust, judgment, and connection matter most, and intelligently augmented where technology can make coaching more measurable, actionable, and scalable.

Mento pairs leaders with top operators in their field for 1:1 coaching and mentorship, supported by Moments, our AI intelligence layer that turns coaching into real-time insight.

Our customers include Anthropic, OpenAI, Vercel, 1Password, Brex, Whatnot, Gusto, and Hims & Hers. We’re backed by leading investors including Slow Ventures, M13, and Twelve Below.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager to own the product narrative, launch strategy, and adoption motion for Mento’s AI-powered coaching platform.

This is a hands-on, high-impact PMM role at an early-stage company. You’ll shape how we explain what we’re building, why it matters, and how customers get value from it — across two connected audiences: the HR and L&D leaders who buy coaching solutions, and the coaches and members who experience Mento every day.

You’ll work closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success, Coaching, Design, and Growth to bring new capabilities to market, equip customer-facing teams, translate customer insight into sharper positioning, and help customers understand the value of human coaching enhanced by AI.

The ideal candidate is a strategic storyteller, strong operator, and customer-obsessed product marketer who can create structure in ambiguity, write with clarity and taste, and move fluidly between strategy and execution.

What You’ll Do
  • Own Mento’s product narrative. Define positioning and messaging for Mento’s AI-powered coaching platform in a way that connects our coaching philosophy, AI capabilities, customer outcomes, and market differentiation. Help shape how Mento talks about AI externally with nuance, clarity, and conviction. You can help customers understand that nuance in a way that feels ambitious, credible, and clear.

  • Lead launches that drive enduring engagement. Own launch planning for new product capabilities from strategy through execution, including messaging, internal readiness, customer education, external communications, enablement, and post-launch engagement that drive understanding, engagement, and usage.

  • Turn coaching expertise into compelling product stories. Partner closely with Coaching to translate Mento’s methodology, member experience, and customer outcomes into use cases, proof points, customer-facing materials, and narratives that help buyers and users understand what makes Mento different.

  • Equip customer-facing teams. Create the decks, talk tracks, one-pagers, FAQs, objection handling, demo narratives, competitive positioning, and enablement materials that help Sales, Customer Success, Account Management, and Coaching explain the product clearly and commercially to our end users.

  • Drive adoption and expansion. Connect product magic to help customers, coaches, and members get more value from Mento over time. Create use-case guides, ROI narratives, lifecycle messaging, customer proof, and “why now” stories that support engagement, renewal, and expansion.

  • Bring customer and market insight into GTM and Product strategy. Synthesize customer conversations, field feedback, usage data, win/loss insights, and competitive signals to refine positioning, identify adoption barriers, influence roadmap conversations, and sharpen go-to-market and product strategy.

  • Partner with Growth on content and campaigns. Set the audience, narrative, and strategic direction for product-related content and campaigns. Own the core messaging and source material — including product narratives, launch messaging, customer stories, and use-case content — and partner with Growth to bring those ideas to life across landing pages, campaigns, webinars, customer communications, and other channels.

  • Build repeatable AI-first PMM systems. Create the operating rhythms, templates, and processes that help Mento launch, learn, and communicate more effectively as we scale.

Who You Are
  • You have strong B2B product marketing experience in fast-moving environments . You have 6–9 years of product marketing experience, ideally in B2B software, SaaS, HR tech, L&D, coaching, employee experience, or another complex category. You’ve led launches, built messaging from scratch, supported sales-led GTM motions, and operated independently and quickly across strategy and execution.

  • You’re a strong storyteller and clear writer with strong product intuition. You can turn complex product capabilities, coaching methodology, buyer needs, and AI concepts into messaging that is simple, credible, and compelling. You know how to adapt a story for different audiences without losing the core narrative.

  • You drive launch and adoption through continuous iteration. You have a demonstrated track record of of working cross-functionally and externally

  • You’re customer-obsessed and data-informed. You use qualitative and quantitative insight to make better decisions. You want to understand how customers think, where they get stuck, what helps them see value, and how product marketing can improve the full customer journey.

  • You’re highly cross-functional . You enjoy working cross-functionally, and across leadership levels. You can drive alignment without a perfect process and are comfortable staying close to the details in a fast-moving environment.

  • You’re thoughtful about AI and have an integrated practice. You’re excited about what AI makes possible, but grounded about where human judgment, trust, and connection remain irreplaceable, both in your own PMM practice and in your storytelling.

  • You care about coaching and human development. Experience in HR tech, L&D, coaching, people development, or employee experience is a plus. More importantly, you’re curious about what makes coaching transformational and can translate that into product narratives that resonate with both buyers and users.

  • You’re comfortable operating at an early-stage company You can navigate ambiguity, manage up effectively, ask for support, move quickly, and build the systems you need as you go. You’re excited to work closely with our Co-CEO, and you excel at being both a strategist and an executor.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
