MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere—on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

About the Team

Join our MongoDB Search product team, collaborating closely with product design, engineering, analytics, marketing, and user research professionals. Our mission is to drive long-term growth for MongoDB Search, focusing on an exceptional end-to-end developer experience for those looking to adopt our product. As a valued team member, you'll delve into customer challenges, formulate hypotheses, and validate them with innovative solutions. Success in this role involves consistently identifying opportunities to integrate MongoDB into user and company workflows worldwide.

This role will be based remotely in the United States

Role Responsibilities
  • Deeply understanding the developer experience for MongoDB Search, understanding how users get started, test and implement CI/CD, and move into production. Overseeing our strategy for best practices in development and running early access programs for new features in this space, balancing customer needs and business priorities
  • Partnering with Product Design and Product Analytics to understand the end to end user journey, identifying opportunities to influence the funnel, and determine experimentation strategy
  • Partnering with documentation, growth marketing, and developer relations to improve customers learning journey and extend our impact
  • Partnering with product operations to improve our product feedback loop with the field and operationalizing our customer outreach
  • Work closely with the rest of the MongoDB Search product team to provide input and contribute to the long-term vision of our product in support of our goals
  • Identify user needs and pains, barriers to adoption, and business opportunities through a combination of research, feedback collection, and competitive analyses
  • Drive execution of these opportunities end-to-end
Requirements
  • You have 5 years of product management experience, with 2-3 of those years in a “Growth”-like role
  • You have direct experience running experiments (A/B tests, MABs, Card-sorting, etc.) and deep understanding of common product-led growth frameworks for activation and engagement
  • You love getting lost in the numbers, but you know they don’t tell the full story. You recognize that extensive customer understanding is an important part of the product process.
  • You have the ability to collaborate with people from different parts of the company to ensure that your product-led thinking drives real business impact
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical content to diverse non-technical audiences
  • You have experience with the full product development process: ideation, research, creation, design, execution, quality testing, etc.
  • You know that developing great products isn’t just about shipping the feature, but thinking about all the outside interactions the user has as well (documentation, support, forums, blogs, etc.)
  • You have desire to understand search technologies and developer implementation lifecycle
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Search technologies or working on products with a developer persona
  • Strong technical background (degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, coursework or certifications in coding)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
