Who We Are

The Growth team at MongoDB sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and go-to-market execution, with a singular mission: help developers and businesses discover, adopt, and scale effectively with MongoDB.

We own critical moments across the customer journey; from first touch and activation to expansion and long-term success. The work we do includes identifying high-impact opportunities, running experiments, and building experiences that measurably improve activation, engagement, and retention.

This role follows a hybrid working model in our New York City office, or can be performed remotely in the United States.

What You'll Do

As a Product Manager on the Growth team at MongoDB, you’ll own a squad focused on improving the developer experience across MongoDB Atlas. You’ll turn ambiguous growth opportunities into clear product bets and measurable business outcomes through high-impact, data-informed initiatives that help developers succeed at every stage of their journey.

We’re hiring Product Managers aligned to two core Growth problem spaces: Activation and Expansion.

  • Activation focuses on enabling builders with intent to ship an application to find success on MongoDB as quickly and effectively as possible by reducing time to value, removing friction from the registration-to-activation funnel, and setting the standard for how developers onboard to Atlas
  • Expansion focuses on helping existing Atlas customers grow usage across new environments, new applications, and larger workloads by translating growth potential into targeted product investments and setting the standard for how we scale Atlas upmarket, with and without a human in the loop

Your specific alignment to Activation or Expansion will be discussed during the interview process, based on your interests and background. In both roles, you’ll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, Sales, and Developer Relations, and you’ll be accountable for moving the metrics that matter most to MongoDB’s growth.

In this role, you will:
  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for your Growth squad, defining target segments, end-to-end journeys, and experimentation plans that drive scalable, sustainable growth
  • Identify and optimize key conversion moments across the Atlas lifecycle, including registration, activation, free-to-paid conversion, and multi-application adoption
  • Lead the delivery of friction-reducing product experiences that accelerate developer success (e.g., streamlined onboarding, intelligent upgrade paths, developer tool integrations, improved organization/project management)
  • Design, build, and iterate on digital growth mechanisms including in-app experiences, upgrade surfaces, contextual guidance, lifecycle messaging, and journey orchestration
  • Define and instrument end-to-end measurement frameworks (events, funnels, cohorts) and provide ongoing insights into conversion, engagement, and retention performance
  • Partner with Marketing on lifecycle campaigns and scaled programs such as Office Hours, webinars, and nurture journeys
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to align digital-led growth with enterprise motions and enable seamless customer handoffs
  • Drive AI-native product experiences, including integrations with AI coding assistants, agentic workflow improvements, and LLM-powered discovery and guidance
  • Partner with Analytics and Data Science on targeting strategies, propensity models, experimentation design, and impact measurement
  • Champion high-quality, scalable solutions with reliability, security, permissions, compliance, and organizational best practices in mind
What We Look For
  • 5+ years in product management for B2B SaaS (ideally PLG), with a track record of driving activation, conversion, monetization, retention, or expansion
  • Background in engineering (computer science, electrical, software)
  • Know your way around data: cohorts, revenue metrics (MRR, ARR, NRR), funnels, A/B testing, and experimentation; you can separate correlation from causation
  • Comfortable with platform and infrastructure products and developer experiences - you understand how developers learn, build, and adopt tools in their workflows
  • Write clean, concise docs; align teams; and make decisions with incomplete data
  • Data-driven and business-minded - you understand why products resonate with customers and know how to measure long-term impact
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to identify insights, uncover opportunities, and translate findings into actionable strategies
  • Familiarity with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, etc.) and agentic workflows
Nice to Have
  • Experience with developer platforms, data infrastructure, or cloud services
  • Experience with lifecycle marketing, journey orchestration, CRM systems (Iterable, Marketo), and in-app messaging (Intercom)
  • Understanding of MongoDB, NoSQL databases, or relational-to-NoSQL migration patterns

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
