Overview

Chronograph was founded to bring next-generation technology to private capital markets. Through our suite of cloud-based analytics and data management solutions, we help many of the world’s largest and most sophisticated venture capital, private equity, and credit funds understand their investment performance in unprecedented detail, with over $20 trillion of AUM monitored via our solution suite.

At Chronograph, we get to go “behind the scenes” and work directly with investors who are driving some of the most impactful changes across high growth start-ups, global infrastructure and renewable energy, growth equity, and all other private capital strategies. The firm is backed by The Carlyle Group, Nasdaq Inc., and Summit Partners, and has seen continuous rapid growth since its founding in 2016.

The Opportunity

Bring your expertise to a highly collaborative, creative, and innovative team with a market-leading technology product suite. We are seeking a Product Manager to help drive the evolution of our Limited Partner (LP) product suite – partnering on the formulation, execution, and communication of the LP product roadmap.

The Product Manager, LP Portfolio Monitoring will report to the Head of Product and sit across a diverse array of stakeholders, including: Engineering, Design, Client Services, and Business Development. You will work closely with clients and prospects to understand their business needs, identify technology solutions, determine priority, and articulate our product strategy via roadmap presentations and other external touchpoints. Strong communication skills, including a deep understanding of private equity terminology and an ability to communicate with sophisticated private market investors, is a must.

Our ideal candidate has robust prior investing experience at a top tier investor, ideally a fund of funds. Prior technology experience is helpful but not required; absolute passion about technology is a must. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to transition from finance into tech at a leading fintech platform. You’ll be in good company—our founding team and much of our Product and Engineering leadership share similar backgrounds as investors turned technologists. We combine deep industry expertise with technical innovation and welcome new talent who bring the same drive.

As the Product Manager of our LP Product, you will:

  • Drive key product decisions and contribute to the LP product strategy, lending your industry expertise to shape technology that meets evolving market needs
  • Develop a deep understanding of client use cases and design creative solutions that enhance how LPs monitor performance, report, and analyze their private capital portfolios
  • Develop and maintain a detailed product roadmap, prioritizing initiatives based on business impact, technical feasibility, and resource availability
  • Collaborate closely with a best-in-class Engineering team to deliver high-quality product features efficiently
  • Build excitement in the market for our product vision via regular client engagement and roadmap presentations

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Two (2) or more years of private equity investing experience, with an expert understanding of transaction structuring and execution (ideally including secondaries)
  • Deep understanding of private equity concepts, including measures of private equity returns, corporate finance, and related financial concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate strategic concepts and contribute to roadmap development and product specifications
  • An ability to tailor your messaging to engage with various stakeholders, and to distill key business needs from end user feedback
  • An ability to efficiently prioritize, triage, and synthesize multiple perspectives
  • An understanding of what it takes to ship high-quality SaaS products and features at scale
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, and creativity

Nice to haves:

  • Prior experience working in product management, or collaborating closely with technical teams
  • Prior experience with private capital portfolio monitoring tools or related use cases

If you don’t tick every box above, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.

Why join Chronograph?

We’re a team that values open communication, creativity, embracing cutting edge technology, a zero-defect mentality, and having fun along the way. We want you to be happy for the long-term.

We offer:

  • Equity participation
  • 401k
  • Unlimited and flexible vacation
  • Generous health benefits
  • Flexible work arrangements (including remote / in person / hybrid)
  • Team week events in HQ (Brooklyn, NY) three times annually for all employees

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
