Flex is building a finance super app for business owners — reimagining every single aspect of the financial workflow and financial services for any entrepreneur. The company has grown revenue 25x+ since publicly launching in September 2023 and is on track to achieve profitability by mid 2025. Flex is focused on mid-market businesses ($3 - $100M revenue) that are largely overlooked by existing fintech solutions and reliant on slow and outdated regional banks.  We are targeting a ~$1T revenue opportunity that is largely up for grabs.

Flex is a fully remote company and this role can be performed from anywhere.

The Role

As a Product Designer you will be an integral part of our product development team, responsible for creating visually stunning and user-friendly designs for a wide range of digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, to bring ideas from concept to reality. If you are a former, future, or interested future founder, you're likely in the right place. Flex's Design team is a place where a growth mindset and a passion for craft are necessities. You'll be part of a small, high trajectory team with abundant opportunities for impact and ownership.

  • Develop high-fidelity visual designs, including wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups, that showcase product features and interactions. Ensure consistency across all platforms and devices.
  • Create intuitive and seamless user experiences by designing clear user flows and interaction models that anticipate user behavior and needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing, to ensure design feasibility and seamless integration of the product into the development lifecycle.
  • Improve and contribute to Flex's design system.
  • Leverage AI to create huge impact.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in product design. Contribute to brainstorming sessions and ideation workshops to drive innovation within the team.
  • Prepare and maintain design documentation, specifications, and guidelines to ensure a smooth handoff to the development team.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure design implementation accuracy and provide design support during the development phase.

What You Need

  • At least 5 years experience as a UX/UI designer. Ideally in Fintech, banking, insurance, credit cards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
