Our Vision

Health systems still run critical operations like staffing, labor planning, and capacity on spreadsheets, phone calls, and guesswork.

Vitalize is building the AI operating system for how health systems manage labor and capacity. The impact is real: we save hospitals millions in unnecessary labor spend, give clinical leaders back 10–20 hours every week, and are often the reason staff and leaders stay.

We’re trusted by leading health systems across the country and have raised more than $31M from top healthcare and technology investors, including our own customers.

Our Values

We hire and grow everyone against the same four values. Each one comes from a real Vitalize story—interview with us to hear them!

  • 🚗 Push the Car. Step in regardless of role. We help wherever we're needed, own problems end to end, and don't stay in our lane. People can count on us.

  • 🏥 Premier 1K. We show up for our customers, always. Nearly everyone visits a customer site in their first month, and customer feedback informs everything we do.

  • 🗣️ Run Towards the Ugly. Name the ugliest truth first, then propose the fix. Candor over comfort—we call out what's broken, and never get complacent. This shapes our craft.

  • 💡 Think Bigger Fridays. See the gap, fill it—no permission required. Every decision is an experiment: we run it, let the results decide, and drive real impact from day one.

About Vitalize's Design Team

Design at Vitalize is grounded in a deep understanding of the people and systems that power healthcare. We spend time in hospitals, learn how work happens from the frontline to the C-suite, and use those insights to design products that make complex operational decisions easier. We care deeply about craft, but we believe great design starts with getting the workflow right—not just the interface. As a small team, we work closely with Product and Engineering, share work early, challenge each other’s thinking, and stay close to the customers using what we build.

The Role

You’ll be the third product designer at Vitalize, joining at a stage where you’ll have significant ownership and room to shape the product. You’ll lead design for complex product areas from early discovery through launch, working alongside product managers and engineers to turn ambiguous problems into clear, intuitive experiences. You’ll design across data-dense and AI-powered workflows, contribute to our growing design system, and help establish a consistently high bar for the experiences we ship as Vitalize scales.

What You'll Do
  • Own product design from discovery through launch—partner with Product and Engineering to understand problems, explore solutions, prototype ideas, and ship high-quality experiences

  • Design complex, workflow-heavy product experiences—make data-dense operational tools intuitive for users ranging from central staffing teams and unit managers to frontline clinicians

  • Work directly with customers—visit hospitals, observe real workflows, participate in research, and translate what you learn into better product decisions

  • Bring strong product thinking to the work—question the underlying workflow, identify opportunities beyond the immediate request, and connect design decisions to customer and business outcomes

  • Design thoughtful AI-powered experiences—help determine where AI can meaningfully improve workflows and how its recommendations, reasoning, and actions should appear in the product

  • Contribute to and evolve our design system—create reusable components and patterns, improve consistency across the product, and partner with engineering to ensure designs translate effectively into production

  • Raise the quality of the work around you—participate actively in critique, share thoughtful feedback, and contribute to the practices that help our small design team do its best work

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of product design experience, ideally designing complex, workflow-heavy B2B SaaS products, with a portfolio demonstrating meaningful ownership from problem definition through shipped product

  • Strong product instincts and design craft—you look beyond the immediate UI, question whether the underlying workflow is right, and turn complicated problems into intuitive experiences

  • A customer- and outcomes-oriented mindset—you’re comfortable observing operational workflows firsthand, translating customer insights into product decisions, and connecting your work to measurable outcomes

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills—you form and articulate a point of view, incorporate evidence and feedback, and work through disagreement effectively with product managers and engineers

  • Experience contributing to design systems—you understand reusable components and patterns and care about building consistency and quality into the product as it scales

  • AI fluency—you’ve designed AI-powered experiences or have a strong understanding of how AI changes product interactions, with a thoughtful perspective on where AI should and shouldn’t be part of a workflow

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Flexible PTO

  • Unlimited travel budget to visit customer sites

  • Twice-yearly company off-sites

  • Free meals in-office

  • $5,000 relocation bonus for eligible employees

  • Desk setup reimbursement

  • Commuter benefits

  • Monthly gym/wellness stipend

  • An awesome office in Jackson Square, steps from the water

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
