About the company

At Aligned, our mission is to accelerate companies with meaningful missions by providing subscription-based access to elite product and engineering teams. We build tight-knit communities of aligned, mission-driven people who create meaningful software that makes a positive impact in the world. Our internal team members have the chance to work with like-minded top talent in a collaborative environment, offering community, learning opportunities, and meaningful missions. Our core values guide us in this mission:

  1. Start with Why: Before we build anything, we understand why it matters — to the partner, to the team, and to us. Clarity of purpose isn't a nice-to-have; it's the foundation every decision gets built on.

  2. Put People First: People over profits. People over platforms. People over shortcuts. This is the lens through which we make every decision — how we design technology, structure partnerships, and run our business. Putting people first is the foundation of a resilient, abundant business.

  3. Grow People, Grow Leaders: Exceptional work comes from individuals who are thriving personally and professionally. We create space for people to show up as their full, honest selves, and then actively invest in growing them into the next generation of product, engineering, and design leaders. When one person grows, everyone benefits.

  4. Raise the Bar: We choose the longer path of learning over the quicker path of completion. Mastery isn't a destination; it's the daily discipline of going deeper, staying curious, and resisting the easy route. We invest in getting better because that's what makes everything else we believe in possible.

  5. Bias to Ownership & Action: We don't wait for permission or instructions. We take grounded, healthy ownership of our work and our impact, and we prove it by moving. When people are empowered with clear goals, trusted expertise, and real autonomy, they don't just execute; they lead.

  6. Clear is Kind: Trust isn't assumed; it's built through radical transparency and the courage to speak truth, even when it's uncomfortable. We make the implicit explicit, default to openness, and earn the right to challenge by showing up honestly and lovingly every time.

About this role

The Senior Product Designer at Aligned shapes how users experience the products we build and sets the design bar for their Squad. Our ideal candidate has a deep craft obsession — from user flows to pixel-perfect UI — paired with the strategic instincts to know which details matter most and when. Your portfolio speaks for itself: you've shipped products that are not just usable, but genuinely delightful, and you know how to get there through research, iteration, and close collaboration with engineering. At Aligned, you'll own the design of real products for real clients, moving fluidly between discovery, prototyping, and pixel-level execution. If you're passionate about elevating product experiences and want to be part of a team that values craft, simplicity, and growth, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:

  • Act as the primary design voice for your Squad, partnering directly with clients to understand their users, business goals, and constraints

  • Lead end-to-end design from discovery through delivery — research, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity UI, and post-launch iteration

  • Conduct or guide user research and usability testing to validate directions and uncover new opportunities

  • Build and maintain scalable design systems and component libraries that hold up as products grow

  • Translate complex, 0-to-1 problems into simple, intuitive product experiences

  • Partner closely with product and engineering to ensure designs are technically feasible and shipped with high fidelity to the original vision

  • Present and defend design decisions to clients and stakeholders with clear rationale grounded in user needs and data

  • Contribute to internal design standards, critique culture, and processes that raise the bar across Aligned's Squads

  • Eagerness to dive in wherever needed — from a quick UI polish pass to a full research sprint

What we're looking for

  • 4+ years of hands-on product design experience, with ownership of end-to-end design processes

  • Proven success taking products from concept through launch, including 0-to-1 work

  • Strong command of Figma and modern design tooling, with fluency in prototyping

  • Experience building and maintaining design systems/component libraries at scale

  • Working knowledge of user research methods and comfort running or synthesizing usability testing

  • Strong visual design sensibility paired with sound UX judgment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting directly to clients

  • High attention to detail and time management, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Experience working within a remote and diverse product development team

  • Innate curiosity and a drive to WOW clients with thoughtful, well-crafted work

  • A degree is not required

  • We value diversity and will review candidates across the US, Mexico, Canada, and South America, as long as you can commit to working in the PST time zone (or close to it)

Salary: $110–170k DOE and location

Please note that this is an evergreen posting. We're always looking to connect with great candidates for this role, and while there may not be an immediate opening, we'll review applications on a rolling basis and reach out as opportunities arise. We welcome candidates seeking FTE, contractor, or fractional roles.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation

  • 100% remote work

  • Internal company events like meditations, yoga, and panels

  • Most of our positions are flexible for 1099 or W2 positions. If you are a W2 employee, we offer the following benefits:

    • Generous PTO accrual

    • Paid holidays

    • Parental leave

    • FSA and HSA

    • Medical, Dental and Vision insurance, with options for Life insurance and more

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
