Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer 2 with deep expertise in design systems and motion design.

This is a hybrid UX/UI role where you’ll lead and execute design activities across projects, own design outputs, and represent design vision to both internal and client stakeholders. Your work will ensure that VGV delivers experiences that are smart, beautiful, and aligned with user needs and client goals.

Responsibilities

The Senior Product Designer 2 role has broad responsibilities throughout the software delivery lifecycle:

Discovery & Requirements Definition

You’ll drive understanding of challenges and opportunities at the start of a project by:

  • Conducting stakeholder interviews
  • Auditing existing designs and experiences
  • Reviewing and supplementing UX documentation
  • Running user research and analyzing competitive experiences
  • Synthesizing findings into actionable insights
  • Working with product managers to refine requirements
  • Creating UX artifacts (personas, journey maps, flows, sitemaps, etc.) that illustrate current and future experience possibilities
  • Exploring ideas through moodboards, sketches, and prototypes
Design

Your core responsibility is to design high-quality, user-centered, and scalable solutions. Expect to:

  • Drive creative vision on a program; develop and refine design concepts that balance user needs and business goals
  • Create core design artifacts: UX diagrams and wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity screens, and design system documentation
  • Illustrate live experiences with prototypes and motion studies
  • Validate designs through research and user feedback
  • Lead internal and client-facing reviews, and manage feedback effectively
Delivery

You’ll collaborate with developers and QA to ensure design integrity in production:

  • Identify UI constraints early in a project
  • Deliver clean, scalable design files (e.g., organized Figma with tokens, autolayout, and clear naming)
  • Support developers throughout sprints and help resolve design challenges
  • Partner with QA for pixel-perfect implementation
  • Enable clients to extend and maintain the design system post-delivery
Project Operations & Leadership

You’ll guide the design aspects of client programs while supporting delivery excellence and broader team operations:

  • Act as a creative leader and actively help build overall client relationships
  • Partner with program management to scope design tasks and timelines
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and communicate progress clearly
  • Identify and contribute to business development opportunities as they arise
  • Mentor junior designers, helping them refine their craft

Qualifications

Experience
  • 7+ years in UX/UI digital product design (agency and/or in-house)
  • Proven track record of shipping digital products (mobile and web)
  • Experience supporting multi-platform products across web, desktop, or device interfaces
  • Expertise in building, using, maintaining and advocating for design systems
Portfolio
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in UX, visual design, and problem-solving
  • Clear evidence of individual contributions to products and impact on users and business outcomes
Core Skills
  • UX Design: Expert in translating research and requirements into elegant, human-centered experiences
  • Design Systems: Deep expertise in atomic design principles, component logic, design tokens, accessibility standards, theming, and responsive behaviors; experience scaling or modernizing existing design systems in complex organizations preferred
  • Visual Design: Skilled in typography, color, hierarchy, and accessibility; able to create compelling design directions
  • Motion: Proficient in designing motion-enhanced experiences and delivering developer-ready specs
  • Strategic Product Design: Ability to integrate business objectives, research findings, and metrics into design decisions
  • Creative Leadership: Strong communicator who can defend design decisions, influence clients, and manage feedback effectively
  • Research: Competent in applying qualitative/quantitative research and facilitating design workshops
Tools
  • Mastery of Figma (e.g., variables, autolayout, prototyping)
  • Experience with motion tools (e.g., Rive, AfterEffects)
  • Familiarity with more advanced prototyping tools (e.g., ProtoPie, Framer)
  • Familiarity with tools and processes for design-to-code alignment (e.g., Figma Dev Mode, Widgetbook/Storybook, Zeroheight, design token workflows)
  • Familiarity incorporating AI-powered tools into your design workflow (e.g., Lovable, Figma Make, Figma MCP w/ Cursor)
Technical Literacy
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies and implementation considerations 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering
  • Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., Flutter, HTML/CSS, React, Android, or native frameworks)
Communication & Collaboration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Skilled at presenting and storytelling through visuals
  • Strong collaborator with stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Capable of mentoring and delegating to junior designers
Cognitive Traits
  • Passion for designing great software experiences
  • Curiosity and adaptability; quick to learn and synthesize information
  • Detail-oriented with strong systems thinking
Working Style
  • Located in ET or CT time zones (or able to work on that schedule)
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting project needs
  • Experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously

Total Rewards

VGV wants all employees to be supported in their personal and professional development, so we take a comprehensive approach to compensation and benefits. The initial annual base salary for this position is expected to range from $150-$161k. We benchmark every role based on location and against comparable companies to ensure competitiveness; however, actual compensation is highly dependent on numerous factors such as location, experience, knowledge and skills, qualifications and other job-related factors.
