JOIN THE REVOLUTION IN ENGINEERING INNOVATION

Engineering simulation is fundamental to how the world's most advanced products are designed, but many of the hardest problems remain constrained by compute, time, and traditional workflows. Luminary is changing that. Our Physics AI platform brings together high-fidelity engineering simulation, AI, and modern computing to help engineering teams explore more designs, make better decisions, and solve problems that were previously out of reach.

We're looking for a Senior or Principal Solutions Engineer to work closely with customers on their most important engineering challenges.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Solutions Engineer at Luminary, you will help customers turn complex engineering challenges into clear technical opportunities. You will work with engineering teams to understand the problem, identify where Luminary can have the greatest impact, and shape solutions around their simulation and design workflows. The role requires strong engineering judgment, curiosity, and the ability to connect customer needs with the right technical path. You should be comfortable moving between detailed technical discussions with simulation engineers and broader conversations with engineering leaders, IT and infrastructure teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead technical discovery and define approaches for complex CAE use cases.
  • Deliver technical demonstrations, workshops, and proofs of concept tailored to customer needs.
  • Partner with Account Executives through the sales cycle, and with Forward Deployed Engineering, AI/ML, Product, and Engineering on technical engagements.
  • Help customers understand how Physics AI, simulation, and automation fit into their engineering workflows.
  • Identify technical risks, integration requirements, and product gaps, and contribute to proposals and scopes of work.
  • Bring customer feedback back to Product and Engineering, and develop reusable demos, solution patterns, and technical content.
  • Identify and scope new use cases with existing customers.
  • Travel to customer sites for workshops, demonstrations, and technical reviews.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant industry experience appropriate for the Senior or Principal level.
  • Strong experience with engineering simulation, including CFD or other CAE disciplines.
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Applications Engineering, Technical Consulting, or technical presales.
  • Strong communication skills with both hands-on engineers and technical leadership.
  • Familiarity with Python, APIs, SDKs, or engineering workflow automation.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in simulation-intensive industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, or thermal management.
  • Experience with commercial or open-source CAE tools such as Ansys Fluent, Simcenter STAR-CCM+, PowerFLOW, OpenFOAM, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning, Physics AI, or related data-driven engineering methods.

Eligibility: Limited to U.S. Persons. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
