About Wing:

Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Senior Permitting Manager to join our Commercial Real Estate team working remotely, based in the Central or Western US. In this role, you will lead the strategic development and execution of our site permitting program, balancing tactical delivery with forward-looking regulatory strategy. You will own complex, cross-functional initiatives that directly impact team-level key results and Wing’s broader commercial success. The successful candidate is intrinsically driven to solve complex problems, challenge the status quo, and build elegant, scalable processes. You will act as a key leader and subject matter expert, guiding peers and influencing external municipalities to achieve Wing Nest permitting milestones. To support these on-the-ground advocacy efforts, this position requires up to 75% travel, including occasional international trips.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead end-to-end permitting initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. Define goals, operational plans, and success metrics that align directly with Wing’s commercial and financial objectives.
  • Actively shape the regulatory landscape. Identify key municipal decision-makers, build compelling business cases, and thoughtfully partner with them to align on project objectives and advance Wing’s strategic interests.
  • Architect unified work scopes by delegating to and collaborating with internal engineering teams, design professionals, and external Wing Partners. Resolve conflicts and areas of misalignment to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Apply a strong analytical mindset to test assumptions, forecast potential regulatory bottlenecks, and enact robust contingency plans before challenges escalate into major obstacles.
  • Continuously challenge the status quo. Identify opportunities to optimize the permitting process, implement test-and-learn approaches, and champion change management internally to accelerate our deployment speed.
  • Model a commitment to continuous improvement. Share your subject matter expertise proactively, guide peers through complex challenges, and build systems that make the process better and more efficient for the next person.
  • Up to 75% travel, including occasional international trips.

What You’ll Need:

  • 8+ years of strategic experience securing construction, land use, and ordinance-based site permits, with a proven track record of scaling a permitting program across multiple complex jurisdictions.
  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Demonstrated ability to link operational permitting decisions to broader business impact and financial goals.
  • Established relationships with municipalities (or the proven ability to rapidly build them), with exceptional skills in negotiating, communicating goals, and driving cross-functional adoption of your ideas.
  • Proficiency in interpreting CAD site design systems and site plans, using this knowledge to test data, address engineering challenges, and inform long-term project decisions.
  • Advanced use of platforms like Monday.com (or similar tools like Smartsheet/Procore) to manage high-volume site pipelines, pull reports, and identify opportunities to reduce cycle times.
  • Exceptional ability to manage interdependent, high-complexity projects—balancing immediate turnaround times with long-term strategic payoffs.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
