Summary

We’re seeking a strategic, forward-thinking SEO/AEO Organic Growth Manager to define and drive our global search and LLM visibility strategy. This role is built for someone who brings deep technical expertise, a test-and-learn mindset, and the curiosity and confidence to chart their own path in the evolving world of AI search.

This role is ideal for a search-first strategist who thrives on both execution and innovation. You’ll lead traditional and AI-enhanced SEO efforts, influence how our content shows up in LLMs, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize every step of our digital presence.

In addition to being a technical SEO expert, you’ll also need to be an excellent communicator and content partner who is able to guide content writers and PMMs, create AI GPTs, agents, skills, and workflows, and align marketing execution with business priorities. You’ll also partner day-to-day with our web development team to prioritize and guide technical SEO enhancements and with our web writer and content team to produce SEO/AEO-optimized content, and design the systems and workflows that a future content/knowledge engineer will scale.

This is more than an SEO role. It’s the chance to define how buyers discover one of the fastest growing enterprise finance software companies in the world, and a recognized leader in Enterprise Performance Management and AI-powered Finance solutions, in the AI-era of search. This person will be OneStream’s expert voice at the intersection of SEO, AEO, AI, and web strategy, with a mandate to partner with the Sr. Director of Digital Marketing & Brand experience to build the playbook from the ground up.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Search Strategy & Execution

  • Define and own the global SEO + AEO strategy, including quarterly goals, KPIs, and roadmaps aligned to business outcomes.
  • Lead buyer question mining to define the critical questions OneStream must win in search and AI-generated answers and translate them into a prioritized topic hub and question-cluster roadmap. Own creation of L3-L5 content around all persona questions.
  • Lead holistic keyword research, gap analysis, and optimization initiatives using tools like SEMRush and/or Ahrefs.
  • Optimize on-page SEO elements (e.g., title tags, headers, metadata, internal linking) for all pages – by creating and constantly improving Claude Skills and “teams” that all Marketing resources can leverage to optimize their content.
  • Partner with paid media and demand teams to coordinate SEO + SEM keyword portfolios for shared pipeline goals.
  • Shape editorial and content planning calendars to align with search and AI engine trends.

AI-Enhanced Optimization (AEO)

  • Monitor how OneStream content surfaces in generative interfaces and optimize accordingly with a primary focus on OneStream being cited and most importantly, recommended, not just visible or referenced.
  • Lead the implementation of schema, FAQs, structured data, and conversational formats to improve AI snippet performance.
  • Build and maintain custom Claude Skills and automation workflows (e.g., using Zapier or Make) to accelerate content creation and optimization.
  • Own AI crawler accessibility across the site, ensuring AI engine crawlers (e.g., GPTBot, Claude-Web, PerplexityBot, and Google-Extended) are permitted on key content paths via robots.txt and WAF configuration so OneStream content can be discovered, indexed, and cited by AI engines.
  • Create and maintain OneStream’s llms.txt file to direct AI engines to the highest-priority pages, keeping it current as new pillar pages and content launch.

Technical SEO & Web Performance

  • Conduct regular technical SEO audits with Screaming Frog or similar tools (crawlability, schema, Core Web Vitals, etc.).
  • Conduct regular AI/LLM visibility audits using dedicated AEO tracking tools (e.g., Scrunch AI, Chosenly or Brand Radar) to monitor how OneStream is surfaced, cited, and recommended across AI engines, and translate findings into optimization plans that you drive.
  • Partner with web development and design teams to embed SEO and UX best practices in every build and implement improvements (e.g., page speed, lazy loading, responsive layout).

Content Strategy & Collaboration

  • Shape AI-generated content strategy, including prompt development, keyword alignment, and tone.
  • Work with product marketers, Finance and product SMEs, and copywriters to build and continuously optimize & refresh high-quality, buyer-question-aligned content including category and competitor compete pages.
  • Establish and govern a sitewide content refresh framework and prioritization model so existing pages are systematically re-optimized for search and AI answers.
  • Optimize and repurpose atomized messaging and content for various formats: listicles, landing pages, solution pages, blogs, comparison pages, etc.
  • Educate internal teams on SEO/AEO best practices, equipping PMM and content partners with AEO GPTs, agents, and repeatable AI workflows for self-service efficiency.

Off-Page SEO & Backlinking

  • Own third-party authority strategy across the sources AI engines cite most, including software review sites (e.g., G2, Gartner Peer Insights, TrustRadius), Reddit and practitioner communities, marketplaces, social platforms, Wikipedia, and industry publications, in close partnership with PR and social teams.
  • Build YouTube into the AEO channel mix, ensuring videos carry accurate, manually edited transcripts, buyer-intent titles, and chaptered, question-based structure so AI engines can extract and cite them, in partnership with the video and social teams.
  • Drive backlink strategy through outreach, PR collaboration, and partner content syndication.
  • Monitor off-page SEO health and identify opportunities to grow domain authority.

Measurement & Reporting

  • Report on share of search and Share of AI (LLM visibility and recommendation KPIs) to leadership and devise quarterly optimization plans to improve them.
  • Partner with marketing operations and RevOps to establish AI referral attribution, including a dedicated “AI Referral” channel in GA4, a self-reported “how did you hear about us?” lead field that names AI assistants, and a dark-funnel model to estimate true AI-influenced pipeline that would otherwise be misattributed to direct traffic.
  • Track and report on traditional organic search performance KPIs (traffic, rankings, conversions, CTRs).
  • Deliver regular insights and strategic recommendations to Marketing leadership and stakeholders.

Success metrics

  • Web-influenced pipeline and conversion lift across key buyer-journey and campaign landing pages.
  • Visibility and narrative accuracy in AI-generated answers for our core categories (with the SEO/AEO Lead).
  • Personalization impact: share of key pages adapting to visitor context and the conversion lift that follows.
  • On-time, on-brief delivery of complex web projects, evidenced by a steady testing cadence and documented learnings.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business (technical background), or Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience, required.
  • 5-7+ years of technical SEO experience, preferably in fintech, enterprise software, and/or B2B SaaS.
  • Proven ability to design and lead independent SEO/AEO strategies with measurable business impact at B2B SaaS companies.
  • A deep curiosity & passion for winning in AEO
  • Hands-on experience with Sanity, Webflow, and/or equivalent CMS platforms.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with AI tooling and prompt engineering, including creating and fine-tuning custom GPTs, Claude Skills, or agents, and using workflow builders like Zapier or Make, to make content creation and search optimization best practices more accessible across the organization.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Business, or Information Systems preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of generative search trends, AI agents, and AEO best practices.
  • Fluent in HTML, schema markup, and modern technical SEO practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in SEMRush, Google Analytics, Search Console, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Scrunch AI, Brand Radar, and related tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills; capable of influencing across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
