ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Multi-Discipline Development Engineer to join our Automotive Electronic Products (AEP) team as part of CompalUSA, work based in Goleta California. A hybrid work model combining the flexibility of remote work at home with the benefits of on-site collaboration in the Goleta, CA development facility will be employed. The Senior Multi-Discipline Development Engineer will develop complex mechanical and software-based test systems.
Major responsibilities:
Detailed design and fabrication of effective product test equipment designs that meet module integration & validation testing requirements. Creation of custom mechanisms and adaptation of applicable low-cost off-the-shelf components and materials resulting in reliable prototype test equipment for infrared camera systems. Lead test equipment fabrication and integration activities, resolve issues, support test software development & validation testing, and transition-to-production activities. Mentor young engineers and engineering interns.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in multi-disciplinary mechanical and software design, fabrication, integration and validation of complex test systems for various applications
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or other applicable credentials
- SolidWorks expertise, ability to translate ideas into reality
- Experience with various fabrication and assembly methods needed to create development tools, test modules and test stations, including 3D printing, accurate machining of parts, appropriate selection of materials, etc.
- C, C++ software coding experience coupled with effective software configuration management, integration and validation
- Proven track record deploying complex test hardware and software in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience managing internal and external development resources to planned budget and schedule
- Collaborative mindset
