About the company
Our client is a defense and aerospace manufacturing company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take charge of the manufacturing of a key hardware subsystem, moving it from early development builds to repeatable, high-volume output. You will set up the processes, grow capacity and work side by side with design engineers to meet production targets.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of a key hardware subsystem and drive its manufacturing success, including process definition, capacity growth and gains in reliability and efficiency.
- Establish and expand shop-floor methods for complex hardware built from advanced materials and precision-machined parts.
- Turn development-stage builds into production-ready assembly lines that can support high annual volumes.
- Write and maintain the documents that guide the build floor, such as work instructions, test plans, safety requirements and manufacturing bills of materials.
- Work with design engineers on manufacturability decisions and line up the people, tooling and suppliers needed to meet delivery goals.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- Proven experience building and scaling manufacturing capacity from zero, not only sustaining existing lines.
- Hands-on experience with hardware fabrication, assembly or testing, beyond planning or oversight.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- A track record of ownership, shown through specific, measurable outcomes you personally drove.
- Willingness to work on-site 5 days per week.
- U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person (green card/permanent resident) status, and ability to obtain a security clearance.
Bonus points
- Specialized experience in composites, bonding processes or thermal and surface treatment of materials.
- Background at fast-moving hardware companies.
- Experience moving prototype processes into scaled production at hundreds to thousands of units per year.
- Experience with tooling design, design for manufacturing or process documentation.
