JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the FOX banner, we produce and distribute content through some of the world’s leading and most valued brands, including: FOX News, FOX Sports, the Fox Network, and the FOX Television Stations. We empower a diverse range of creators to imagine and develop culturally significant content, while building an organization that thrives on creative ideas, operational expertise and strategic thinking.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Sr. Manger – Business Intelligence and Data Management, the unicorn who can speak both marketing and data/technical and seamlessly swim back and forth between those functions and serve as interpreter.   You’ll take marketing requirements for campaigns and translate those into use cases and accompanying data needs.  You’ll drive those requirements through our internal Data Services organization to develop and deliver against these attributes.   You’ll assess existing data to determine accuracy and if it’s ‘good enough.’    You’ll build out dashboards and data visualizations for marketing campaign performance and customer insights.  You’ll perform ad hoc analyses including customer segment sizing to help shape campaign targeting, and campaign list generation on occasion.   This position primarily interfaces with Marketing partners accountable for campaign business results, operations managers responsible for building and executing campaigns, and product and technology teams responsible for delivering against data requirements.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Intelligence (60%):

  • Drive the vision and build-out of automated dashboards and self-service analytic capabilities for marketing program/campaign reporting, audience sizing, and other recurring needs.
  • Conduct proactive and reactive analyses to identify key drivers of business or campaign performance and recommendations on future actions based on insights.
  • Produce monthly KPI scorecards with accompanying insights and drivers of performance changes.
  • Translate complex analytics tasks into easily consumable outputs to guide data-driven decisions with various stakeholders.
  • Prepare data and explore new potential data to support reporting and analysis initiatives.
  • Project manage portfolio of work and prioritize based on potential business impact vs. level of effort.

Data Management (40%):

  • Function as Marketing’s subject matter expert on internal data, definitions, usage and sources to support Marketing’s campaign and reporting needs and other applications for data.
  • Assess and analyze available data vs. intended applications and use cases. Develop recommendations and implications for using existing data vs. sourcing net new data to marketing stakeholders
  • Perform end-to-end management of work streams including requirements and sourcing, testing and validation of development to ultimately ensure data availability to support campaigns and reporting.
  • Prioritize portfolio of data requirements to ensure sprint delivery teams are working on the most impactful.  Create and manage steady backlog of new data requirements.
  • Monitor data quality in production systems to ensure ongoing accuracy and readiness.   Identify issues, determine impacts if any, and drive appropriate issue resolution via tech and support teams while communicating to affected stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage scorecards on data quality and delivery.
  • Ensure Marketing data documentation is up to date and accurate.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Business intelligence or analyst role experience
  • Experience in a data management function involving developing requirements and use cases, prioritizing data needs, validating data delivery, and ensuing ongoing data quality
  • Experience as a data analyst, preferably with an entertainment or digital media company working in Marketing, Product, or Technical/IT teams
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills with ability to interpret and summarize complex data that drive actionable plans that add value to the business
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to turn broad ambiguous questions into discrete analytic deliverables
  • Expert in MS Excel
  • Professional experience using advanced SQL
  • Experience building dashboards and data visualization in Looker or Tableau
  • Disciplined, analytical but creative thinker and problem-solver
  • Strong attention to detail, strong ability to complete work under pressure on tight deadlines, logical thinking, curious, self-motivated
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills at all levels of an organization with the ability to present complex data, influence others and build relationships.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

  • Prior experience working in an Agile development model for data development and delivery
  • Experience working with marketing campaign management tools and their data e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Localytics, Braze, Airship
  • Relevant work experience with Digital, Media, and Entertainment

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
