Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Workplace will lead the local workplace team, focusing on facility experience and the operations of the IMAX Playa Vista office (an owned building equipped with 24/7 critical business systems, Post-Production, and two IMAX theatres). This role will lead all workplace activities, from strategic planning, project management, and resource optimization to overseeing workplace quality programs including health & safety, emergency response, environmental management, accessibility, and physical security. 

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

Facilities Operations: 

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Playa Vista Workplace team (direct and third-party staff). 

  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party services, including legal agreements, schedules, and budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness. 

  • Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and safety of company facilities, including theatres, post-production, and office areas. 

  • Coordinate procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. 

  • Coordinate and provide oversight of routine preventative maintenance, upkeep, and repair of building systems including HVAC, MEP, and fire/life safety. 

  • Establish strategic goals for facilities infrastructure and maintenance planning, ensuring efficient operations through expert advice, continuous improvement, energy conservation, and seamless project integration. 

  • Provide leadership of waste disposal and environmental initiatives. 

  • Event Oversight: Our building hosts over 700 events and 17,000 visitors annually. Oversee the Workplace team members that provide coordination for these events from the facility, catering, security, and health and safety perspective. 

 

Strategic Facility Planning and Capital Projects: 

  • Develop and articulate a clear, strategic vision, and assist in preparing and implementing multi-year capital plans. 

  • Manage short and long-term strategies for asset management, maintenance programs, building operations, energy management, engineering management, and compliance with applicable construction legislation, codes, and guidelines. 

  • Lead capital infrastructure projects, including design, budgeting, documentation, BID process, contractor selection, project requirements, and ensuring efficient project closeout. 

  • Engage stakeholders in coordinating building space allocation, design, and facility redevelopment, through business case analysis 

  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, KPIs, and budgets for infrastructure and maintenance initiatives, ensuring compliance and stakeholder coordination. 

  • Lead facilities maintenance programs, managing contracts, budgets, quality standards, and process improvements while optimizing financial reporting and asset management. 

  • Responsible for the facilities operational budget and capital spend budgets as approved by business leaders. 

 

Health & Safety, Physical Security, & Accessibility: 

  • Ensure facility safety and security for all employees, visitors, vendors, and guests 

  • Responsible for emergency response including evacuations, alarm management, equipment downtimes, and first aid emergencies. 

  • Develop and implement Facilities Health and Safety programs, conduct hazard assessments, lead the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan, and ensure compliance with legislation. 

  • Lead the Health and Safety committee, including hosting meetings, organizing facility inspections, and corrective actions. 

  • Oversee compliance with IMAX physical security standards, participate in audits, and maintain the local system 

  • Ensure that required environmental, health and safety, security and quality assurance programs are implemented as per internal/client policies, local codes, and regulations. 

  • Monitor critical systems and provide 24-hour on-call support in case of system failure 

 

What You’ll Need: 

  • Degree in architecture, engineering, business, or related field. 

  • Refined project management experience (preferably PMP designation) with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. 

  • Experience in facilities management leadership to coach, motivate, and lead a workforce. 

  • Strong budgetary knowledge and contract negotiation skills. 

  • Experience with building equipment, automation, preventative maintenance programs, and capital renewal. 

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours, on-call time. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint). 

  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset. 

Compensation:

101,455.00 - 120,000.00
