JOB DESCRIPTION

We seek an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager, Technology to lead business analysis, cultivate an agile development mindset, and strategically integrate AI to 10x the SDLC, accelerating solution delivery and optimizing live production technology platforms. This leadership role demands hands-on BA expertise, agile coaching, and a strong understanding of QA and integration roles. The successful candidate will manage and mentor a development team, oversee their contributions to business analysis, project delivery, quality assurance, and system integration, and actively support complex BA work. They will also champion agile best practices, identifying opportunities for platform innovation, technical debt reduction, and enhancing live production resilience. Familiarity with Salesforce, Mulesoft, Tableau and AWS platforms is preferred.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business Analysis Leadership & Hands-on Contribution: Lead and mentor a development team (BA’s, Devs and QA), establishing best practices for requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation. Directly engage in complex business analysis projects, translating strategic business objectives into clear, actionable functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Agile Coaching & Process Enablement: Act as an agile coach and advocate, guiding development teams in implementing and optimizing agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban). Facilitate ceremonies, remove impediments, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and rapid delivery.

  • AI Strategy & Integration: Proactively identify, evaluate, and champion opportunities to integrate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning solutions into existing and new technology platforms both internally in our SDLC as well as business solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to define AI use cases, assess feasibility, and oversee the successful implementation of AI-driven features.

  • Project Planning & Agile Delivery Oversight: Oversee the end-to-end agile delivery of solutions related to technology platforms, including new feature rollouts, system optimizations, and strategic AI initiatives. Ensure projects are planned, executed, and completed effectively within an agile framework.

  • Technical Debt Management (Agile Context): Work with product and engineering teams to strategize and prioritize efforts to address technical debt, improve platform performance, and minimize long-term system maintenance costs within iterative agile cycles.

  • People Management & Team Development: Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Business Analysts, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Stakeholder & Communication Management: Build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including business leaders, product owners, engineering teams, and senior leadership. Effectively communicate complex technical and business concepts, project status, and AI opportunities to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Performance Metrics & Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for BA quality, agile team velocity, and the impact of AI initiatives. Provide regular, transparent updates on progress, challenges, and solutions to senior leadership.

  • Strategic Value Delivery: Drive build vs. buy decisions, prioritizing efforts that provide true value-add to the business. Establish and track initiative value goals, measuring success based on effective implementation and business impact.

  • Deliver best-in-class user experiences: Ensure business applications meet enterprise standards for design, scalability, and reliability, providing seamless user interfaces and performance.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Business Analysis and/or Project Management within a technology-driven environment.
  • Proven experience managing and leading a team of direct reports.

  • Demonstrated experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and a strong understanding of agile principles.

  • Hands-on experience conducting complex business analysis, including requirements elicitation, process mapping, and user story creation.

  • Experience identifying and incorporating AI/ML solutions into business processes or products is highly desirable.

  • Technical Acumen: Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts, data science principles, and their practical application in business analysis and software development. Familiarity with technology platforms, system architecture, and approaches to managing technical debt.

  • Key Platforms: Familiarity with Salesforce, Tableau, Mulesoft, and AWS architectures.

  • Agile & Business Analysis Skills: Deep proficiency in agile frameworks and methodologies. Expertise in various business analysis techniques (e.g., use cases, user stories, process modeling, data modeling, prototyping). Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Asana).

  • Communication & Facilitation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to facilitate workshops, negotiate requirements, and present complex BA and AI concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to dissect complex business challenges, analyze data, and propose innovative solutions, particularly those leveraging AI capabilities.

Key Competencies:

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to inspire, guide, and develop both individual contributors and cross-functional teams towards common goals, fostering an empowered and collaborative environment.

  • Strategic & Innovative Thinking: Capability to align BA and agile initiatives with broader organizational strategies, anticipate long-term impacts, and proactively identify innovative opportunities, especially concerning AI.

  • Coaching & Influence: Strong ability to coach teams and individuals on agile principles and business analysis best practices, driving adoption and continuous improvement through influence rather than authority.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilizes data and analytics to inform business analysis, evaluate AI opportunities, and measure project success.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures precision and quality in requirements documentation, solution design, and data analysis.

  • Adaptability & Learning Agility: Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies, particularly in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
