Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Manager, Integrated Planning & Scheduling (Level L) to lead a team supporting the Experimental Systems Group (ESG) in either Seal Beach, CA or Kennedy Space Center, FL with travel up to 30% required.
ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning various technology domains, and is an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world's first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently launched its eighth mission.
This manager will lead integrated planning and scheduling professionals supporting program execution across development, production, and operations portfolios. Responsibilities include proposal planning, schedule development and integration, change management, critical path and what-if analysis, and Earned Value Management reporting. The role provides leadership and technical oversight for the scheduling discipline across ESG programs, ensuring schedule integrity, process compliance, and cross-functional alignment, while managing employees, including first-level managers as needed, and building a disciplined, high-performing IP&S organization.
Position Responsibilities
The Level L Manager will:
  • Lead, develop, and manage employees and first-level managers within the ESG IP&S organization, including performance management, coaching, talent development, onboarding, succession planning, and support of leadership growth.
  • Provide strategic and technical direction for integrated planning and scheduling activities across ESG, ensuring priorities, workload, and resources are aligned to immediate program needs and long-term organizational objectives.
  • Develop and execute integrated departmental plans, policies, and procedures while providing input to business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives for the scheduling organization.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and integration of program and portfolio schedules including IMS, detailed schedules, proposal schedules, baseline execution schedules, and in-work schedules across functions, product groups, suppliers, and partners.
  • Lead schedule analysis and control activities including critical path, variance, risk, and impact analysis; change management; baseline control; and corrective action development to support executable program plans.
  • Ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance of scheduling deliverables, program review materials, customer reporting, and IPMR Format 6 or other applicable planning/scheduling outputs in accordance with Boeing policies, processes, and customer requirements.
  • Drive standardized application of integrated master planning methods, scheduling tools, and best practices in coordination with program management and functional leadership to support EVM-aligned planning and execution discipline.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with executive level leadership, customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports, serving as the primary point of contact for scheduling leadership within ESG and promoting collaboration, accountability, process effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Acquire and manage resources, provide technical oversight, and approve technical approaches and deliverables for IP&S activities, including supplier interface management and process improvement initiatives.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA or Kennedy Space Center, FL.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in program planning, project management, integrated scheduling, industrial engineering, business operations, change management, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience using integrated scheduling tools such as Open Plan Professional, Microsoft Project Professional, Enterprise Project Management, or similar tools.
  • 5+ years of experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) methodology and analysis.
  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing employees and/or first-level managers through formal or informal leadership roles.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with schedule integration, baseline management, variance analysis, and schedule performance reporting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, space systems, or highly regulated program environments.
  • Experience supporting development programs, production programs, agile software programs, or operations portfolios.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project Server and/or enterprise portfolio scheduling environments.
  • Experience using Milestone Professional.
  • Experience with proposal planning and integrated master planning methods.
  • Experience supporting IPMR Format 6 reporting.
  • Experience writing macros or automating reporting in Microsoft tools.
  • Experience with complex development programs involving multiple suppliers, platforms, and customer interfaces.
  • Experience applying DFARS-aligned EVM requirements and surveillance support.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Prior management experience in a technical or program control function.
  • Experience leading managers or multiple layers of direct and indirect reports.

Summary pay range:
$146,200 - $211,600
