Senior Manager, Project Management - Financial Services Talent Strategy
About the Role: Capital One was built on the belief that data and technology disrupt industries, and we apply that exact same philosophy to our talent. As the Project Manager for our Scale the System pillar, you will build and run our Talent Engine for the Financial Services (FS) Division. Your job is to take talent planning out of leaders' heads and embed it into simple, automated, shared tools and seamless processes. You will lead the transition from manual spreadsheets to an AI-assisted, predictive talent system that gives senior leadership a real-time view of pipeline health, active rotations, and talent flight risks.
You are a data-minded builder who loves creating order out of chaos, ensuring that our talent ecosystem can scale seamlessly. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong relationship building, influencing, communication, and problem solving skills; who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative, and values-oriented team.
General Responsibilities:
  • Lead the "Scale the System" Roadmap: Architect and execute the 12-to-24-month project plan to operationalize Capital One Auto's talent pipeline, turning macro strategic goals into operational tools and dashboard realities.
  • Consolidate & Scale Local Mini-Products: Audit existing, fragmented spreadsheets and localized tracking tools, stripping away manual bottlenecks to build a single, unified tracking engine.
  • Build the Predictive Talent Interface: Partner with technical teams to build and scale user-friendly dashboards that allow leadership to track their top talent across 6, 12, and 18-month horizons-explicitly modeling future vacancies, cross-functional rotations, and automated succession pull-ups.
  • Leverage AI & Data Analytics: Explore and deploy emerging AI-driven tools to map associate skillsets directly to business needs, establishing clean baselines to flag talent flight risks before they materialize.
  • Operationalize Processes: Manage the operational mechanics and data loops supporting our 2-3 annual leadership talent reviews, providing senior executives with the clear, quantified data they need to make real-time talent decisions.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in Project Management, Product Management, or Business Analysis
  • At least 2 years of experience managing the rollout of software, data dashboards, or enterprise tools

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP, Agile, or equivalent Project/Product Management certifications
  • Experience in HR function
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional projects in a tech-forward organization or HR operations space
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, open-source dashboard frameworks) and experience partnering with data engineering or AI enablement teams
  • Curious, analytical mindset with a passion for leveraging technology to optimize human systems and organizational velocity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
